I do. Strome is a good player.

Didn't Edstrom get hurt? Could've sworn he did. But if not, then yeah I also don't understand why they haven't recalled him to see if he can play more consistent minutes on that fourth line
- NYR11

Edstrom did get hurt after being sent back down and I also think the maximum 4 call up rule post trade deadline has impacted their thinking, theyve been saving them just in case

I mean we're talking about Zibanejad and Kreider, right? Eye test people say no problem with Zibanejad. Counting stats and analytics say otherwise. So to the people that have seen Mika Zibanejad not playing well, they should just be forced to ignore it? Was he better for a portion of March? Yes. Did he have good game last night? Also yes. However, if you think the Rangers can win a championship and also have their #1 center play this inconsistently, then I don't know what to tell you.
- blacksheep1

I think many here have noted that Zib has been less than stellar this year. Doesn't mean we are just ignoring it. The fact of the matter is we are still at the top of the league and he is still on pace for over 70 pts. The 5x5 has gotten better as of late. Not every player is going to be perfect all 82 games. And I do think the NYR can win the stanley cup with Zib playing as he is right now...crazier things have happened in hockey

That makes sense. I thought Edstrom looked decent when he was up here. Nothing flashy. But solid defensively, can chip in on offense, strong on the puck and the forecheck, and a big net front presence. I like his game

this is the part of the show where Tom keeps building up Dylan Strome just for contrarian purposes

thats .92 vs 1.0 for those keeping math track - only half as bad as Zib compared to krieder.

The Eye test tells me that Zib is fine btw.

regarding the real first line- Any line with Bread on it will always be the first line in terms of 5 x 5 minutes. Trocheck has elevated his game to also be a true #1 center for at least this year - I am happy with 1A and 1B.

Your sentence is simple division for points.

Game score factors in, but isn't limited to: goals, primary assists, secondary assists, faceoffs, penalties, blocks, time on ice, expected goals for, expected goals against etc.

That math is not the same.

Who has said that?
We have all said that he isn't producing at 5 on 5. He is certainly down from the last couple of year's totals. What we (the "Eye test people") have said is that the rest of his game continues to be on or around par level and that keeps him as a solid 1C in the scope of the league.
The thing that you often ignore (and ironically, Jim and 8675309 do the same on the opposite end of the spectrum) is that life includes nuance. Not scoring at normal levels does not by itself mean someone is "not playing well." As stated, Zib is the (pseudo) #1C on the top team in the league. How can it all be negative???

I say it. Are you expecting 91 points every year? He is having a very similar year to 2021-2022 which was his best year before last year by point total. I say he is fine. he could have had five goals last night.

His shot totals are similar for the last bunch of years- the only thing different about this year that stands out- is his shoptting percentage is down, which to me is pure hockey luck.

Yeah, Brukie understands that you can't cure a personality disorder. Once a socio, always a socio. I would have hoped you shot a little higher than a hockey blog for your target.

I think Sorokin got hurt in practice today

edit: looks to be minor thing but Varlamov still likely to be goalie tomorrow either way
