Canes currently sit 8.7M under the cap.

Yeah they almost never overpay for players. Tulsky's team provides Waddell with clearly defined guidelines on how much each player is worth to them and they refuse to give them a dollar more. That's why dudes like Nedjelcovic and TDA were unexpectedly cut loose.

not being a wise ass though how do you know? the flyers practice rink isn't anything special at all. hell youth hockey uses it. it is a run of the mill rink. thier gym also nothing of note.

Not sure some of that other stuff really makes a significant diff in this day and age. Even so players are clearly staying away with all those perks.

philly and the area is a fn poophole. Don't know much about Raleigh but would take it over this cesspool area. As a plyer t me I want florida texas carolina. staying away from the detriots chicago philly ny of the world.

Listened to a lot of ex-Flyer interviews. They all rave about how much better they were treated as Flyers than anywhere else they played.

yes they have in the past when snider was alive. I just do not believe they have this huge advantage anymore that they did once have.

they were one of if not the best organization in hockey and at one time in all of sports. very well known. a premier franchise. hard to believe harry when you look at it now.

Still doesn’t add up to some competitive advantage you are trying to insinuate. Most of us have been to the practice rink, nothing special. Hurricanes aren’t putting KFC out for their post game meal for the guys.

It's so obtuse that you couldn't reply with a single intelligent comment. Guys like you crack me up.

- MJL

The original statement set the stage for the absence of intelligence.

"The coach is so bad that he got them to play as hard as they could every night (what he was brought in for) and now they're tired".

I'm paraphrasing.

That part of the team hasn't changed. Like they just completely redid the "Locker Room Compound" before this season:

They don't just do it for current players. They intentionally build out like this to create a selling point for UFAs and such. Leveraging an advantage outside of the salary cap.

Is it enough to push top players to sign here and forget all the other BS surrounding the team? So far no, but they're trying.

well we just disagree as I do not see the flyers as having this huge advantage any longer. even without the BS!!!

bottom line is $$$ talks for the most part anyway. so cant wait to see who they overpay next...in free agency

Players don't get paid by the game. Again, for contracts that have already been negotiated. What mechanism do they use to lower player salaries to make up for the lost revenue by playing less games? My statement was correct. For now on, if you move my posts from another thread, I will not respond.
- MJL

I agree with you. There is no way the players association is going to allow the teams to drop 12 games. The players salary is based on revenue, and dropping 12 games per team is a huge drop in income. The average revenue for an NHL game is $2 million. Losing 12 games per team is a loss of 384 games. That would be a loss of revenue between $500 and $750 million. They are already bltching about the loss of profit with Arizona playing in a building with 5000 max capacity. There is no way they are going to roll back games played and players income.

Pretty much any city that can support an NHL team is pretty nice. Especially if you’re making over $400,000. It’s not like the guys on the Flyers can only afford to live in Kensington. I don’t think it has much to do with the city itself. You could make an argument that the fans or media are tough, but of the big four in town the Flyers get the least amount of attention.

Are they still getting paid? I don't know.
- MJL

Heard that they are getting paid the remainder of their contracts and that all of their contracts are up at the end of this season. Don’t remember where I heard it. Some podcast. Don’t know if it’s accurate.

I should've said current cap space. Under the cap was misleading. They're really good at identifying which player to keep and spend on. Also how to deploy and use players. Like when they walked away from Hamilton. I always think they're a couple of elite players away.

Doubt it, Coots didn't fight to get back into playing shape to not play again. He can simply waive is NMC and go elsewhere.

Dining scene, nightlife, ratio of hot women to uglies, business opportunities will differ wildly tho. Like Winnipeg and Raleigh aren't gonna hold a candle to Vegas and NYC in any of those regards.

I haven’t been to Detroit in 30 years, but the nearby burbs are nice. Chicago and Manhattan are pretty awesome especially if you’re wealthy. Philly is a step down from Chicago and NYC, but not a bad downtown. If you’re not into city life the practice rink is in a pretty affluent suburb and it’s a quick shot over the bridge, in your luxury SUV, to the stadium

Actually a lot of NHL folks respect him. That's why he's a mainstay on TSN doing shows w/ ex-NHL players.

That's more of a you problem than a Bryan Hayes problem.

Honest question. Why do you think the players union would accept making less money? Especially on previously signed contracts.
