The charts will soon turn into exactly what Tom always did with the charts. Discussion about hockey, but then finds a chart to say otherwise. Just like the stupid win’o’meter, we should’ve lost the Yotes game but won the Pens game? Makes complete sense. Definitely something we should be discussing/looking at.
Tom has been banned for YEARS at a time for being a troll. And that’s exactly what he’s doing once again. Dude made a new account, to circumvent his last ban.
You guys are right though, let’s keep looking at charts that mean absolutely nothing. And when the eye test is working just fine; let’s find a chart to say otherwise.
Jan, appreciate the blogs over the years. Hopefully this is the year we go all the way. - nyrangers9479
Yeah, this is 100% a YOU problem. Tom posts the charts without even commenting and you go nuts.
Not one person has said the charts overrule what we watch with our eyes. Tom may have said on occasion that they quantify everything to a degree. Most disagree. Either way, YOU make way too big a deal over the whole situation. Period. Full stop.
Try scrolling passed them and see how that feels.

it's the same price no matter who signs him though - picklerick
Really? There’s no bidding war for him between teams ? surprising. |

yeah it's a standard entry level contract, I think the only incentive a team could have is making it start immediately so his first year is this current season and he becomes eligible to sign his 2nd contract quicker |

Not that it would stand in anyone's way, but there is a range of around $250,000 that ELC's can span, no? Like, I think the min. is $725,000 or $735,000, right? I thought they could sign as high as you like, just that most rookies don't warrant going too high over that. |

I think it's 925K contract per season, but the teams do differ in terms of bonuses
whatever it is, I am pretty confident Rangers would offer the most they can

The money puck win o meter charts are definitely too closely skewed to shot totals imo. It was mentioned that every team has an analytics department as proof of their worth. of course they all need an analytics department for contract negotiations where you need similars and objectivity
The other money puck graph had Fox at the bottom on the game where he got the first star and bway hat - it was just the other day |

I wonder why teams bother hiring their own analytics teams if Money Puck is so perfect, seems like waste of money

Money puck is far from perfect. What it is, is an at-a-glance snapshot of what some aspect of the game looked like.
The facts of life have not changed: You can watch a hockey game without analytics and understand what went on. You cannot watch analytics without a hockey game and know the same. |

@JFreshHockey
Let's remember a guy...
Michael Sauer played two seasons for the New York Rangers in '10 and '11. He had a 57% expected goal share and a 62% goal share at 5v5; NYR outscored opponents 63 to 38 in his minutes.
He was concussed by Phaneuf in Dec 2011 and never played again. #NYR

you are saying that all Tom does it post analytics, doesn't say anything else, and we all have the right just to scroll past it
however, how does this work when Tom uses the analytics to say why he thinks a player should be scratched, traded and not re-signed, do we just scroll by that too?
