I credit the three new dmen more than Myers for that feat.
- neem55

Aah you mean 4?

Hronek
Soucy (injured a lot)
Cole (3rd pair LHD)
Z acquired via trade

Overall Myers been more consistent & PK & 3rd in D points no PP.

Yes. Especially Hronek who took a lot of his important minutes and helped turn it around.

Back in the Stone Age when I was on D most were RHD. I played the left side so others were on there strong side. I was a good skater. Big adjustments. Could clog the middle easy but harder if they went wide & on the turn hard to check on my backhand. Same for breakouts on the backhand. A totally different mindset to adjust to & why NHL coaches don’t like D on their off handed side.

Due to playing second fiddle instead of first, he’s been awful playing Top minutes up until this year. This isn’t that difficult. Taking a step back in competition and ice time has been good for him. Full stop.

Exactly, now use all your brain cells. This season he plays less minutes against lesser competition because a better dman is in the lineup ahead of him. Making him second pair.

Hronek has Hughes for break outs to hide any warts. Sure he’s played good but Hughes can carry anybody. Myers has had revolving door partners & played well. I used to hate him but gotta give credit where it’s due. Canucks don’t get to the top of league with smoke & mirrors.

Oilers suck it lol

I play D, I remember when I had the clutch and grab down to an art until they changed the rules and the refs all told me I’ll be watching you lol. We actually had a good laugh they got me a few times 😜

He actually played well with Shaw as D Coach. The following year when Shaw jumped ship for Philly he looked lost. Myers plays tough minutes against the other teams best a lot as a penalty killer on our 1st unit. So I'm not sure he's stepped back any competition wise.

I'll try to answer for 99% of us that understand what "criticism" means to us.

a) Pettersson is a NHL hockey player that plays for our favourite hockey team, he scores goals, gets assists, wins faceoffs, plays good defensive hockey. There are also times when he doesn't score goals, or get any assists, loses faceoffs and plays poor defensive hockey. These are always pointed out both good and bad, as is with all players and coaches, that is what the basis of hockey conversations are built upon.
b) Pettersson salary both present and future have been discussed, and as we all know his negotiated salary is based on everything in the above statement. Now, you nor I did not negotiate that salary with Pettersson, a real proven, experienced guy in the NHL negotiated Pettersson salary. There is absolutely nothing any of us can do or say that will change any of the salary that Pettersson will receive.
c) I do not have my head in the sand because Pettersson is in a slump and makes kazillions of dollars, so not really sure why you think we should all be spazzed and continually b!tch about Pettersson.
d) There is criticism and constructive criticism which can be good basis for hockey discussions. Then there is constant non stop criticism that will kill a hockey conversation, and it then is just plain old b!tching.

Probably heading into Vic tomorrow night to watch the Royals/Winterhawks game. Portland is the team your Cougars have to worry about. They are fast, play with great structure and are skilled. They should sweep us.

Pens smacked the rangers and the jackets kicked the Avs, how would that go over in here if that was us getting thrashed, oh they’re not going anywhere blah blah blah 😆. These last few games don’t mean that much standings wise it’s about cranking it up in the playoffs and getting healthy before you start the grind.
