DB did say they watched most of his games this year, so I would think they know what they have or don’t have. I think it’s in the guys best interest to get something done as well. I think we’ll see a two year deal.

I watched some video of Fedotov practicing with the Flyers yesterday; my Gosh is he huge! It's the like the Geico commercial with the Walrus in the net Even when he butterflies Fedotov's head is above the crossbar.

This is where we simply disagree. Staal and Hathaway are fine signings that play the game the right way, and don't cost too much in terms of % of the cap. Both have moveable contracts and Hathaway only has 1 more year. I am all for trading Laughton. I love him as a player and he is once again having a terrific year for the Flyers, but with Poehling coming on, I think the Flyers can lose Laughton and get a good return. Risto should be traded to open up some spots for young defenseman to come in. Given his injury, the Flyers will probably take it on the chin, but more likely will wait until the deadline next season to move him. I'm not there with TK. I love him as a player, he is still young and IF the Flyers can sign him to a team friendly deal I want the Flyers to extend him.
- jd250

Not as young as you think he is. He will be 29 in the first year of his new deal. whatever it is.

What is your idea of team friendly?

TK is going to want what everyone else wants and thats 7-8 yr deal at 8M or more. Do you do that or trade him for assets. Personally I trade him. He is a high energy guy but very streaky and doesnt bring that energy often enough. If they are in a real rebuild it will be 3 to 4 more years till they are realistically competitive.

The key will be his quickness side to side. Wont matter how big he is if doesnt have the lateral movement. Going to be interesting and anxious to see him play

TK's contract is going to be similar in term, amount+, and age to Couturier's situation. This is where the Flyers frustrate me. They never learn from past mistakes. They have Couturier, who is already breaking down and playing 4th line, staring them in the face, and they will STILL repeat that mistake with TK.

I don’t think it’s going to be fair to Judge him so quickly. Like you I hope he comes in and plays great….but just in his travels I assume he might be a tad rusty.

“I love him as a player “
That’ll get you in trouble. Why would he sign a team friendly deal? He’s gonna want to get paid. And he has already proved that by his last holdout for his last contract. Get that out of your head. He’s gonna expect 8-9 mil per year. You simply don’t sign a tk to that in a cap world. Not with his age and all

Jfc I swear to god this is coots all over again. I can’t believe some people simply haven’t learned this lesson yet. Not you obviously but some flyers fans just don’t get it and never will. This has been what the flyers bank on in the past. Uneducated blinded flyers fans to support the status quo money making team. I honestly can’t believe rational fans aren’t pitchforking the arena at this point

USA today just came out with their favorites to win the Cup (take it FWIW). They have Colorado as the favorite, and the Flyers are ranked 13th between the Laffs and the Kings.

They haven't done it yet, so why are you getting all bent out of shape? Everyone knew that Coots contract wasn't gonna age well, but that was under a different regime.

- define playing the right way please.

- had they not signed stall maybe one of those "young" dman would be further along no? then again probably not as they are ony playing them by defult at this time.

- there is zero indication they will trade laughton. in fact the opposite.

- no one is taking n RR un the summer or next deadline. his contract is terrible.

- tk isnt young. so tell me what is a team friendly deal? I mean tk is > pasta right?

we shall see if danny boy is a forward thinker or same old flyers

they have another chance not to blow it and get a very good deal to set up the future with a tk trade.

It really will spell end of the “rebuild”. And make it look more like a retool. That’s why although I like Seeler, he’s still a 30 year old whom they just re upped for 4 years. I kept hearing Ginning and Attard weren’t ready. Really? They have both looked capable and given the chance will probably get even better.
I get the whole culture thing but it can’t be used as an excuse for DB not to make hard decisions and do what’s best for this team in the future and not for Tort’s “today”. team.

where I am at with RR is he is a sunk cost. So just let him play in a bottom pair role and ride the contract out. He can be fine in that roll. just do not buy out or give up anything (signifcant) to get ride of him. also do not retain at this time as already have ayes for 3 years.

goes back again to another reason why you dont re-sign seeler.

flyers will mke the playoffs and RR will still have never played in a playoff game

Yes but the writing is on the wall no? Seeler extension? What assets were moved at tdl? They literally have until draft or maybe before fa period to make “rebuild “ moves.

So far the moves more scream retool. I have little faith they actually rebuild. I think it’s all lip service. A pr move to keep the ship afloat for the status quo money scheme. Seeler extension alone sets that in motion. Tk extension leaves no doubt.

I mean what do to you think they do? Or should do? Is there any path to rebuild with tk extension?
