Yes the same page, holding players accountable is part of that. But that does not mean these players should not hold each other accountable. That's part of being a team and I don't care where they come from. These are elite players that have gone through a sh!t tone to get to this point. I already said Granato needs to go, but I am not blaming it all on him. These players need to be held accountable to. Ridiculous to think Otherwise. - Buff36
You should care where they come from because some might not even understand what the coaches are saying, some NHL players use an interpreter.
You are very obtuse.
So if you are hungover today you want your captain to hold you accountable?
Can you explain to me the process in which a captain holds a hungover player accountable? Thanks!
It should be easy for you to explain because you think its ridiculous otherwise. |

Oh I got it. They throw his tracksuit in the shower.
I hear that leads to great team chemistry. |

They don't move, very stationary set-up... Much easier to defend.
The team is coached at ECHL level bad. - IonSabres

I have no idea why they do t use Byram and Dahlin on the point, Tage on the wing, Olofsson on the opposing wing, Tuch or Cozens in the bumper.
Olofsson may not be a stud, but they have to respect his shot, which frees up Tage a bit more. Bryam and Dahlin on the point would help us maintain the zone and move the puck around more cleanly, which we are abysmal at currently.
It also helps with the Dahlin turnovers |

So if you played team sports then you would know you have 20 personalities from 5 different countries with age ranging from 18-35 making millions of dollars going in 5 different directions.
Its up to the coach to get them all on the same page.
Its his damn job.
We gonna do this again? - sabresfan69
No, as I don't think you understand how it works... The C, A, A are the voice of the Coach and add to the accountability as peer pressure is often more intense.

So are you going to explain to me the process a captain can hold a young player accountable for playing hungover?
Throw his tracksuit in the shower?
Bully him?
Insult him?
Belittle him?
What can the captain really do?
Its on the coach. You draft them, you develop them and its up to the coach to keep them in line or create a culture that provides a positive environment.
The problem is after 13 years of losing and losing and losing 30-40 games a season you want the players to hold themselves accountable when the organization is a loser organization that doesn't hold itself accountable.

Make an example of him in practice. Push him until he pukes. Call him out in front of his peers. My captains pushed me my entire hockey career. No excuses. That’s what a captain can do. |

One gets in their face and calls them out if they can't practice up to standards.
Then, you request to go 1:1 against them in practice and drill them non sto, physically and with fast pace. Afterwords, it's bag skates for the team, then suicide drills for that player. You make it so difficult that they won't do it again.
Do you adhere to the country club atmosphere? Seems like you do. |

Last week, the Rochester Americans fell behind 2-0 in the first period against Hartford in a game they would eventually win. Still, the first thing Amerks coach Seth Appert did after the game was put it on himself.
“We were terrible in the first,” Appert said. “That’s not acceptable. I have to do a better job. We’ve been a really good starting team. It’s something we’ve taken pride in. It shows guys are practicing the right way and preparing the right way. I think that’s big on coaching. Obviously, I missed something in terms of our preparation or seeing where they were at mentally to get the right mindset heading into the start of the game.”

Granato coaches a team that has allowed the most first-period goals in the NHL. It was a problem they fixed for a few weeks, but it returned in a big way and embarrassing fashion in front of an already frustrated home crowd. After that vile first period, the Sabres have a minus-30 goal differential in the first period this season. Only the Chicago Blackhawks are worse in that department.
“Simple things we let slip,” Sabres coach Don Granato said. “Simple details, starting with puck battles. We lost battles early. On retrieved pucks, we had body position and lost the battle. Lost some battles to the net.” |

They are all tradeable (except Skinner, Dahlin and Power based on age, cost and underperformance/no signs of potential) based on the cost control. Send one of these underachievers to hockey hell. Ooops, my bad, the Sabres are hockey hell. Send them out of the room to make a statement. |

Good question.
Gallant and the caps old coach. What the heck is his name.
But they might be old.
Someone to hold the kids accountable is needed. - Sabretooth9
Sorry for getting back late(busy at work). I'd like Lindy or Torts, but I'm afraid I'd like Lindy or Torts 15 years ago. Do these guys really have the fire to dig deep and pull this franchise out of the ultimate funk? I think they need more of a retirement send off kind of gig.
Should we call up Seth Appert? |

I like what I've seen of Appert, but if you're going to change coaches, don't try to tell me the best option is already in your organization again.

A) Unacceptable by Granato and total lack of awareness by ownership. Kevyn Adams is not a true GM. I suspect ownsership was tired of actually trying(and totally sucking at it) so he's there just to fill time until they decide if they even want to own this team any longer.
B) I consider Appert post game pressers a must watch. I don't think the guy is full if crap.

Think that's why Appert came up when Granato was sick. Everyone knows Appert was at the USNDP at the same time Granato was there, took over as HC there after Granato left. |

Depends on his nickname abilities...what if he has a different nickname for Dahls or Oooooooooopie? That could disrupt the vibe, do we want that? |
