I love how newsday is blaming low attendance on parking. Sure it sucks but if this team were truly competitive nobody would give a rats arse about the parking. They are experiencing lower attendance because Lou has done sh!t to the lineup for some time now and the team sucks. Islander fans are a fickle bunch when it comes to their team being bad with good reason.

Hell I don't even want to reach for the remote to put this shat on. Why would anyone want to battle traffic to see it?

Just saw the isles director of player development is Eric Cairns, and Eric Boulton is a scout. Marty Reasoner, Vladimir Malakhov, Denis Seidenberg are all player developement. I get the loyalty to a degree but this is part of the problem.

And Ken Morrow has been the Director of Pro Scouting for more than 30 years.

Agreed. Some odd choices there and our player development has been awful since seemingly forever

I believe Eric Cairns has had this position for a decade. That’s a problem.

Love the guy as an Islander and with the exception of Noah Dobson who imo is elite talent, the drafting has been atrocious.

Seems Lou did very little turnover with scouts which is the same he did with the roster.

I generally agree, but there were some other good picks over the years. Sorokin was a 3rd round pick. I think Lee was a 5th rounder. Casey was maybe a 3rd rounder. Pulock and Pelech were decent picks, although, like Lee, both now look to be on the downsides of their careers.

The Isles' biggest failures over the years have been their top 5 overall picks. All those years of sucking under Garth should have provided an opportunity to build through the draft. That didn't work, and now Lou rarely holds onto his top draft picks.

So… what you are saying is if Lou drafted like Snow in the later rounds we would just be finishing up with our rebuild now.

I mean yeah the guy drafted for literally 12 straight years. A broken clock is right twice a day. Even if the 5 players you mentioned are good picks, that’s roughly 5 players out of a possible 84 picks (assuming one pick a round for 12). Awful ratio. Being that the scouts and player developement are who they are there’s a problem and it’s more than Lou. I obviously agree with you about the top 5 picks being the worst. Inexcusable to miss that many times.

He found Jared Spurgeon in the 6th round as well. Sure, he chose not to sign him and Spurgeon went on to become a top pair defenseman, but Snow did technically draft him

Oh, I was just bored with the Islanders' season, so I was nitpicking kindlyrick's comment that Isles' drafting was atrocious with the exception of Dobson. Somehow that has got twisted to make it sound like I was defending Snow. Yes, Spurgeon was an excellent draft pick. Speaking of Snow mishandling his draft picks, one could also argue that Nino Niederreiter wasn't an atrocious pick, even if there were some better players he could have picked.

I guess the question becomes, do you draft Clutterbuck 5th overall ?
