@patersonjeff
update: if #Canucks simply manage to play .500 over final 13 games, they'll finish with 107 points. Oilers would need to go 10-5-1 to get to 107. Nux have sizeable edge in regulation/overtime wins & won season series

Excellent post. Enjoy Palm Springs. Stayed there for 4 days before I went to the Power Trip Festival in Indio. Very friendly and nice people in that town.

Thanks NYN Yorkster. Safe travels.
If RT is happy with his players performance then they are on the right track.
Not worried at all they will keep prepping and preparing for the playoffs. Sometimes good play can blow out another team, depending on on PDO, but can’t expect it either. |

I would be surprised if they went away quietly come playoff time, lots of playoff pedigree in the coaching staff and management to prepare them. |

RT is struggling with the hot & cold efforts since the ASG. Consistency is needed for the stretch drive. |

Thanks Yorkie
Off topic after yesterday I really question fighting in hockey. It seems like a lot of the enforcers are checking out early. There have been more than one or two only to die young that played the role of the enforcer.
Cam Cole dug into SN last night who were promoting the Reeves fight. He asked if their timing about endearing the fight may have been a little fucked up highlighting it as the lead story on the day an enforcer dies young. Good on him. - VANTEL
100% on the bolded. I read this from the Canadian Press:
A study of former NHLers published last year showed enforcers lived significantly shorter lives than their peers.
Researchers at New York's Columbia University came to that conclusion after analyzing data from more than 6,000 players from 1967 through the spring of 2022.
The study found enforcers died on average a decade younger than comparable peers drafted at the same rank, similar height and weight, and at the same position.
The researchers did not find more deaths among the NHL enforcers than in the control group.
"However, being an enforcer was associated with dying approximately 10 years earlier and more frequently of suicide and drug overdose than matched controls," the study read.

So it has nothing to do with the vaccine? I'm so confused......

I had seen a very good comment from one poster earlier today saying the NHL is about a decade behind the NFL for protection of players against head shots. Very true IMO.

If cocaine, steroids and oxys are a type of vaccine then yes, it has everything to do with it. |

There was an interesting story from NYT the other day about head trauma from army training sites, specifically grenade ranges. Something about fraying of white matter in the brain due to concussive force leading to abnormal behavior - hearing voices, inability to manage emotions etc. they cut open that army guys brain who shot up the restaurant/bowling alley last year. |

There’s no excuse for a first round exit imo, they’ve played well enough to have that expectation imo |

A first round exit would likely be greeted with outrage, and rightfully so. |

If they aren't deep enough and shouldn't win at least a round they have no business trading away picks and prospects. |

They're arguably a top 8 team, which is pretty good. You could argue that they're even better which would make the outrage even more justifiable.
They could get a poopty matchup in round 1, but they should at least hold a goaltending advantage over almost all teams they'd face in the 1st round (Nashville) and in that case they should boast a deeper and more talented team.
Outrage could also be directed towards the league if they lose a close, hard fought 7 game series to Vegas which has $20M on IR.
I have a hard time believing that the fan base won't be upset if we traded those futures for Lindholm to "put us over the hump" if we fail to advance beyond the 1st round. Getting over the hump shouldn't mean qualifying for the playoffs ( we would have anyways) or winning the division. |

You contradict yourself. Don't think this team is there yet but will be outraged if they don't prove you wrong.

Looking at the standings...
Really hope Minny can keep it rolling and Vegas continues their slide. Would be so rewarding to see them drop out of the playoffs
Love to see an LA and Edmonton first round series
Nashville is so hot right now.. that first in the West position is gonna be important
Toronto is getting locked into a first round against Florida or Boston. Amazing
