I did. But is 8-10 worst really better?

None of those links predicted the Flyers to be bottom 5 in the league. The Flyers were predicted to be a non playoff team.

does using logic suggest if last in the division then a bottom 5 finish is likely? lets here the spin cliff.

I agree…they can’t lose site of where they are in the process…ok, culture is better. Room is tight….but they still need to add talent while keeping the positives that they have accumulated….not easy or a forgone conclusion they can do this….it’s early.

I’m fine with the players being friends but I don’t think it’s necessary. I always thought it was cool with Mike Richards and Jeff Carter were best friends. It was cool they all played together in the world juniors with Brayden Coburn. Lupul and Upshall also best friend. They were young and they were good. That’s all good but not necessary. I do however like a hard working, collectively tough team like the 2010 team, maybe you don’t feel like need to play ND most nights.

To me tough does not mean punching someone in the face. Tough is an attitude. ND is not an NHL level hockey player in my opinion. Regardless of toughness.

well that makes no sense. one of the links actually listed the points, and they were 5...so bottom five yes. the other two had them finishing last in the division. no points list....but common sense should prevail.

Exactly... tough is Wayne Train and I am not talking in the fighting sense. The guy would lay his body on the line every shift. Same as Richards and Pronger. They played hard minutes and were a tough group to play against.

ND is a human punching bag that should not be on a NHL roster. Seems like a good dude but not a good hockey player. Why he was signed to that contract I will never know...

No, he doesn't win. I guess it depends on what your definition of winning is. He hasn't come close to winning, at least in my definition in his last 16 seasons as a head coach. Soon to be 17. He is the most overrated coach in the NHL. He is stuck on the past and old methods that have a limit to how successful a team will be with his philosophies and methods.
- MJL

He is ranked 9th in NHL wins of all time. He has won a Stanley cup yes, but a long time ago.

If he coaches in the next 3 seasons, he will pass Hitchcock and Lindsay Ruff.

Wouldn't remotely say he looked like a genius. One-goal game, late third period. Not a single Flyers center has won even half the draws. You've scratched your best faceoff guy to "give your team the best lineup to win".

That is didn't end up being costly is a credit to the players on the ice. The coach gets none. He easily could have come away looking bad.

- bmeltzer

the flyers got crushed by the Leafs in the previous game and he made the adjustments to get the win despite being a much less talented team

Longevity not winning. He hasn't won in my definition in a long time. More importantly, the Flyers won't win with him as the head coach. It's not hate, it's reality.

Reality is, it’s the make up of the team. No coach is turning this current club into a contender.

Bingo, he's playing head games to get them pissed as a group so they go out and take it out on the other teams. They are fighting to keep that playoff spot, and Tort's is giving them the gas for the fire at his expense.

It’s hilarious how most people don’t see this.

The old Mike Keenan method. Get the team to rally against you in an effort to win games.

Coots is being soft here.

Yeah, cult.

Can’t wait to go back to John Stevens, AV, Hakstol, Mike Yeo…. where the inmates ran the asylum and the players lacked effort.

- Flyers1218

Funny enough his career points % is right around Hakstol, Yeo, Stevens level.

Hope this means Staal and cam are out for good. Put Coots in, sit ND. Seeler back, for the love of god let the rookies play and sit Johnson, he is a limp biscuit

It does help with on ice results when a room is solid. It makes for a better cohesiveness….it’s a start….but DB and company can not hang their hat on that alone. This is and should be the start of a plan that brings more talent to this team.

20 years ago, but ok.

Twas a completely different game back then too. Two-line passes. Trapping. Dump and chase. Clutching and grabbing.

Every time I watch any actual gameplay footage from that era (not just goal highlights) I'm shocked at what players were allowed to get away with. Skill guys were just getting clobbered repeatedly throughout their entire shift. And the game had very little flow to it.

Players don’t like to be made to feel uncomfortable. Apparently that stretches onto Bloggers, Fans and Hockey Buzz posters as well. Torts methods were well known long before he got here. This type of scenario was as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning.

There isn't a single person myself included who has said the luck in the game was one sided. Perhaps you need to review.
- MJL

you have strongly implied it .. both last night during the game and this morning
