You're right, because since Torts has been with the Flyers his track record has clearly shown that he doesn't know how to build a winning team and push the right buttons to get the most of his players, never mind the multitude of players that have thrived under this coaching.

Don't you get tired typing this BS every single day?

- jd250

Here is the simple fact. Tortorella has only once taken a team past the 2nd round of the playoffs in his last 16 seasons as a head coach. Soon to be 17. I have a different opinion on what winning is. My standards are higher and I'm not as easily manipulated as you are.

I love how everyone on here seems to think that they really know what's going on behind the scenes.
- Phillywhiteout

It's not that they know what's really going on behind the scenes, per se. It's watching their actions, not their words, and making what they see as reasonable prognostications about what's really going on. That's what these discussion forums are all about. Often, this is referred to as "reading the tea leaves." And it doesn't trouble me at all even if I disagree.

I doubt that. He probably thinks he can still play and wouldn’t want to spend one of if not his last year of hockey on LTIR or in the minors.
- psuhockey

If that was the case he wouldn't be pulling what is most likely a BS injury and he would report to the AHL, play his ass off and work to get back to the NHL

I am going to a make prediction, I say the Flyers beat Toronto and Boston this week. I really like the way the Flyers competed against Boston on Saturday. If Walker and Seeler were in the lineup and Ersson was on top of his game, the Flyers would have won that game easily. Except for Boston's 6th goal which IMO was on Sandstrom, every other goal against was due to a defensive break down. Attard was just pushed around the entire game for example.

This is setting up beautifully in the offseason for max entertainment. Flyers will mostly likely back into the playoffs while the defense is a complete disaster. Boat raced in first round due to said defense.

Then, just as the addicts get a taste of the playoffs, a push for veteran defense and maybe even a move to shore up the D by spending some of this draft capital. After all, they just made the playoffs last season and need to push and take the next step.

Plus Konecny mega extension. Glorious.

It doesn't matter how well you compete if your team defense is that bad. You're wrong about Attard. For example you incorrectly blamed him on the goal off the faceoff when it was Staal and Konecny that blew the coverage. You constantly live in a fantasy world of ifs.
- MJL

You're embarrassing yourself again. Attacking my opinions in an attempt to actually sound like you know anything about the game will not help you.

Oh, did you see on TV Saturday with my sign "I love MJL" I made between the first and second periods? Just wanted you to know I was thinking about you ...

Again, we are just jumping to conclusions here, its Tort's fault, everything is Tort's fault, it has to be Torts!
- jd250

It’s the nature of fans, blame everything on the one person they hate. It happened under Hextall when a lot of the online community loved what he was doing so they put all the blame on Hakstol even though it was really Hextall micromanaging who was getting minutes. Many still will make excuses for Hextall.

The ironic thing is that many of the people who loved Hextall bash the current regime even though they are running the same plan except so far doing what looks like a better job of it.

Unless he views the AHL as beneath him. Why ride buses for two months when he can get bought out in the offseason at 2/3 his contract and sign wherever he wants.

Wrong again Fuzzball .. the 2011-12 New York Rangers went to the conference finals, and math right, that was 12 years ago! Just stop it, how many more times are you going to embarrass yourself?

Well you have to have a team with the horses to achieve this, don't you.? We all agree that work vs. talent only gets a team so far. Torts has a track record of getting marginal teams to perform at their highest level. Everyone thinks Jared Bednar is a great coach and maybe he is, but how hard is it really to go on a deep run with a team that has MacKinnon, Rantanan and Makar? Torts had some good players in Columbus but no good player wants to play in Columbus and will get out of there as soon as they can. And here with the Flyers he took a laughing stock of a team and they are least giving us a real hockey season. The guy deserves a lot of credit.

I was just pointing out the factuality of the original statement. I am not interested in going down the Torts rabbit hole today.

would you not have done the deal if you knew he was hurt?
- 26912 PP1

I would have done the deal yes. My point is that maybe the Flyers are taking advantage of a loop hole that other teams have discovered. If it helps us gather assets, good stuff.

You posted that and a going to say that I'm embarrassing myself? Are you really that clueless and unaware?

Here is what you should do. Go back and watch the replay on that goal. If you don't come back with a statement that you were wrong. It's either you don't have a clue, which is already known or you just don't want to admit it. Either way you look like a fool.

The next game you go to in Boston against the Flyers, the sign you should hold up is "MJL knows more about hockey then I do".

I'm fine with the current regime and am good to give them a chance (just like I did with Chuck). Conversely, I think too many people blame Hextall for the team's current state (Drafting of Patrick, not doing an aggressive teardown and rebuild, other aspects). It goes both ways from what I see and to me the big issue was that upper management wanted to shift to a win now strategy when we weren't ready to contend so they got rid of Hextall and we basically wasted 4 years in a futile attempt to go all in. Stay the course, even if it was without Hextall and we'd be in a lot better place.

They're not doing a better job at it. Most of the players who are leading the team were drafted by Hextall or before Hextall. With even some from Fletcher.

I don’t think it’s a terrible idea to add a young veteran on defense. Bonk is still a couple of years away and anyone they draft will be the same if not more.
