I think Sorokin's amazing, but I still don't think having an elite goaltender is as critical as it was in previous decades, or worth the massive financial investment it takes to lock one up. That was probably my most controversial offseason take

I don't think it's critical, but if you CAN get a guy like that he can change things all on his own in a way nobody else on the ice can.

I saw the same speculation about suicide. Apparently, he suffered from CTE and had been dealing with its symptoms, including depression.
