Didn’t you say you thought it was a waste to hold onto the first rd pick and other picks bcs they never turn out great anyway right before the trade deadline?

Or was that someone else?

- Cptmjl

What I said was, "That I no problem with the team trading No.1's or No.2's for a bonafide NHL Player". "That they way this team drafts No.1's a large percentage do not pan out."

What I also said, "Was that this team is not one player away and the way they have been inconsistent. It would be better to hold the pick and try to do something at the draft when you have a better idea of where this group is going."

I still maintain trading draft picks for guys like Horvat, Romanov, JGP, even for Palms. These guys have made substantial contributions to this team, that in all likely hood a draft pick would not have down. Trading for what you know verse what you don't know.

Add injuries to this or lack of chemistry and there lies your counter argument.

Not me. Lou did a lot of good for the organization but I would’ve been fine with him being out out to pasture a while ago. Writing was on the wall…

I would agree with both of those statements.

We have to hope the hiring of Roy did not buy a few more years for Lou with ownership. Lou has gotten a lot out of this game, but it's time he gives back and does the right thing.

I’m with you on this I want the guy gone but he’s going out the way he wants. I doubt ownership cans the guy in the twilight of his career with his history. I get it. Who knows if they would even if he wasn’t at the very end of his career. That aspect I get it’s not exactly a good look.

With that said I hope we don’t see anymore 2nd or first round picks flying out for however longer he’s here. Im fairly certain that’s not going to stop. 😂

I agree with what you’re saying as far as Horvat etc but I maintain that’s something you do when you are either A) contending or B) preparing to contend after rebuilding. I don’t think we fit either category.

The Romanov trade which I was unsure how I felt about it initially is a different trade due to his age and development. In hindsight I’m completely aligned with trades like that for younger players with upside.

I know it’s a tiring cliche thing to say but we need to get younger. Good young not Simon Holmstrom young. Sure he’s ok but we need some quality youth to really contribute in our lineup for minimal salary so we have a real opportunity to add to our lineup. That’s just a fact.

Lou should not get to decide when he leaves. Bill did not get to decide and he won 4 Cups with the Islanders.

If Lou stays he needs to be willing to change his approach and give a lot of say to Patrick.

The team also needs to build within and restock the farm or will it continue to be the drastic moves.

I think having the new building also played a part in the moves made. You do not want an empty building after sparkle wears off in a year or two.

Ultimately there needs to be a balance in providing an on-ice product and grow of the future. It will be interesting to see what happens after this year. There are some decisions that need to be made with the head not the heart.

Hopefully Roy kicked them in the ballz hard enough that they will show up today.

It all depends on how bold ownership is willing to be. Out of respect and the fact that they are still relatively new owners, it is hard to say if that make that call at the end of this year. I could honestly see them giving him next season to see what happens with a full year of Roy at the wheel.

When you have an 81 year old GM, you need to be ready to make a change.

Sure I agree with the bold but you have to rip the bandaid off at some point. The longer you wait the longer it’ll take to be competitive again.
It wouldn’t shock me if they come out like a pile of turds today. Also wouldn’t shock me if they come out like a different, better, team then we’ve seen the last two. That’s the problem. 😂

Hopefully the latter like to watch some decent hockey not what we have the last couple.

The islanders just do not have the speed and energy and skill to give a consistent effort. They shows flashes only. This is not on coaching, but a roster problem and it’s not a new problem.

#Isles    in warmups

Yuck. Hate to see Barzy and Horvat separated just to keep Nelson at wing.

I give Patrick credit for trying, but if you cannot establish your top 6 lines game in and out, you have real problems.

We're back to that pass first mentality. Palmieri with a clear shot and good angle on a 2 on 1 elects to pass it through the dman.

What a terrible call on Engvall

Totally agree. Said that yesterday. They look to make the perfect play instead of playing simple. Get it in and get it on net.

I love seeing Ranger fans when they go into “he didn’t mean it” mode so I find that dude amusing.
