Hahaha nah I doubt it happens. They will most likely lose tomorrow vs the Rags. Then theres a few in a row they might be able to take but scoring is such an issue then that leads into the Stars then Avs....

Rangers are pretty beat up after playing Canes then Stars. They had 4 or 5 guys leave for the room at different points last night

I am actually with Tojo. I hope we give up this years pick to the Sharks.

Too many unknowns for next season. You can go either way on the thinking maybe next year we fall off a cliff and its a higher pick, maybe we need the pick next year to trade at the deadline if we are in the playoff race and are playing better (and have a successful offseason).

I don’t know…The Penguins schedule is pretty gnarly. 17 games left and 15 of those are against playoff teams or teams fighting for a wild card spot. It wouldn’t surprise me if they finished the season 4-13 and dropped down to a top 7 pick.

The schedule looks gnarly indeed. They really had a tough time against the bottom-feeder Sharks and didn't break it open until the 3rd. The Metro division (minus NYR and CAR) and WC chasing teams in Atlantic (DET, BUF) seem very fickle; it looks like it's going to be a logjam situation for the last WC spot.

It will take a miracle for them to get in and, if that happens, they won't get out of the 1st round.

I mean, I really hope so but who f'n knows what will transpire in the offseason and then they're all another year older as well haha

Yes, the PP, or lack there of, and how close they are to a playoff spot despite it is utterly shocking. Fvckng crazy.

- MattStrat

Next year, bad health. Excellent pp. finishing is lg average. Goaltending and GA bottom 10

I’d love to have torts. He is the only acquisition of a single person that could make a difference.

DK had some notes on his Friday report about the Penguins -

-Mike Sullivan isnt at risk of losing his job right now, as has been the case all season

-Jake was never made an offer by the Penguins. Light discussions between Dubas and Jake's agent was as far as it went. He made it seem like players in the organization hoped talks would start, but in the last week before the deadline, it was clear a trade was coming.

-It is possible Jake returns in the summer, but given the process it took to get us here, it would be complicated. That's purely from the team's view. He didnt have any thoughts on if Jake would even consider returning.

Highly doubt this will happen but that would be awesome. No top player wants to sign on a sinking ship so FA’s are prob not gonna be a factor. The last 4 years of his contract will be an albatross but next couple would be pretty good. Jake bunting smith on Lw and rust, rakell, and ? On rw would be decent.

Madden also also said today - briefly noted about it given the Pickett news - that the Penguins will make an attempt to resign Jake this offseason.

So maybe the team is just trying to save face, but interesting 2 guys on the opposite ends of the media in Pittsburgh say the same thing.

The FAs they’ll get are the ones they can overpay on a 1 year deal and flip them for a 3rd round pick at the deadline.

That's actually a great idea, but if we're in it obviously they will hold on to them

Well I'm gonna hope! Pens making the dance is a pretty big deal this year.

Haha what if it came down to the last game, which is Pens vs Isles. That would be crazy, but I highly doubt it happens 😂

Are they that opposite? Wasn't too long ago DK was a regular and even filled in on Madden's show. Did they have a falling out? Maybe Madden took Yohe's side?

Is that because you think the pick with be worse next year? I think the Pens probably have a better season next year if Dubas sees the flaw in his current roster.
- j.boyd919

I think losing Jake will be hard to overcome. I also think we ignore some things that went really right. I believe Sid, Geno, Letang, EK, Petterson, and Jarry haven't missed any time. Goaltending has been much better than expected and that can always regress.

I'd just rather not leave the possibility of a top five pick out there if we don't have to and don't get one this year. I'll wait to see where we finish and who's available. But number ten, think I can easily see us as worse than.

Yes, they had a falling out a while back. It was essentially Madden accused DK of being in the Pirates pocket for always writing so favorably about them. Havent spoken as far as Im aware.

The whole pittsburgh sports media is filled with a bunch of men with attitudes and childish behaviors. Its always fun when drama starts between them though.

I've always said I missed my calling by not focusing more on sports at Notre Dame. Some of the stuff these sports media types do and say? I guarantee I could make people hate-listen to me by just spewing outrageous stuff. Shoulda focused on my work study job in the athletic department media relations office instead of doing dumb poop like writing a thesis.
