Expansion?
I mean I heard of interest by prospective owners/cities in the NHL... But have yet to hear from the NHL about their desire to expand... And Arizona is in serious jeopardy of needing to relocate.
I don't think that is even a possibility until 2027 earliest.

- IonSabres

I believe both Salt Lake and Atlanta have officially requested to start the expansion process. Like Lunaion suggested.

I get it, there is interest from potential investors.
Does the league want to expand to 34 teams? I have not heard the NHL is looking into it though.

Yes, I understand the impact of $2B ... Not saying it won't happen, merely the timeline is likely out 3+ years

Time to draft another G anyway.
If the don't, they are playing with fire.

Draft one every year ... They are also good trade capital if you have too many good ones.

The Penguins announced today that the shipment carrying the Jagr bobbleheads for tonight’s game has been stolen en route to Pittsburgh.

As a result, the bobbleheads will not be distributed at tonight’s game, but will be distributed at a later date.

Meh, I guess it may not happen this year. He may get a few games in at the end if we're still in the playoff race, but Adams crushed my soul and said it's unlikely.

Logically, sure. Easy to see why they'd prefer an expansion team and the league wants the expansion fees.

Sounds like 4 teams coming relatively soon.

I might be out as a hockey fan if that happens. How much more can they dilute the talent pool? (frank) it, just make some AHL teams into NHL teams.

NHL being larger than the other leagues would look odd. Feels like there's enough talent to go around, but that's just me.

Let’s get crazy!
Expand and Time to go soccer style. Worst NHL team get relegated To the ahl. Top AHL team promoted. AHL team gets the top draft pick.

I dumped enough on the organization the other day, so I thought I would return with a theoretical question.

Is it possible that this team is actually "good" right now? That is NOT to say that there isn't work to be done in the offseason. I am saying that this team was searching for the middle ground between playing firewagon hockey (last year) and stand-on-the-perimeter (this year).

The team's turnaround seems to have started with them starting to move their legs and be creative - this has been especially true on the power play. But bringing in Byram really seems to have taken things to another level. They look like they want to always be on the attack. They smell blood in the water.

Of course, it helps to have stellar goaltending and to lose a few dead weights off of the roster. That said, I think this team has found its groove. I've always said that the team needed to try to tilt the ice in the other direction, and it seems like they are doing just that.

Puck Pressure, Sabres are at there best when they use there Speed and get in on opponents quick.

Right, exactly. Is it reasonable to assume that they finally found what they've been chasing all year?

So far with Byram: 1 drubbing for, 1 drubbing against, stole 2 vs Edmonton. I know Detroit is fresh in our minds, but 2-1 and 3-2 games have been common the last few months.

They are 20th in xGF%. I still don't think they've found their identity. Long term, I don't think it's goaltending and low event, one goal games. Byram is a push in the right direction.

Not sure of a good way to measure top line performance. Last year, they might have been top 5 in the NHL. This year, probably bottom 10. That's what they have to solve. You live and die with your top line.

Could be, they just need to find the Consistency to do it, and some roster adjustments and we are off to the races.

They aren't a good team yet. But their identity, based on the roster composition, should be a fast paced, hard forechecking, quick transitioning team. I think you hit the nail on the head about dead weight with this. We got rid of Okposo and EJ, two of our slowest players, and Mitts, an edges vs straight line speed guy. We swapped Mitts for a guy who has the jets to help push the pace...a step in the right direction.

Here is my Homie apology message. He was right about Byram. I didn't think the kid was anywhere near this good.
