2008 Red Wings also had 13 CDN players on the roster lol - LordHumungous
You need those trench guys like they had for Canadians in 2008, for sure, but their top ten playoff scorers in 2008 were as such. Not one Canadian among them.
40 Henrik Zetterberg - Swedish
13 Pavel Datsyuk - Russian
93 Johan Franzen - Swedish
55 Niklas Kronwall - Swedish
26 Jiri Hudler - Czech
28 Brian Rafalski - USA
37 Mikael Samuelsson - Swedish
5 Nicklas Lidstrom - Swedish
96 Tomas Holmstrom - Swedish
51 Valtteri Filppula - Finland |

Holy fuck, not sure who is dumber you or Lefty, probably Lefty, because he, like the forever Canucks Management groups, believe you can win with a bunch of meatballs. - Reubenkincade

Excellent day of hockey on tap. Four games on Sportsnet. Starting with Oil at 9:30, then Flames/Panthers, then Leafs/Habs, ending in Nucks/Jets.
My day is planned. Already told the wife and kids to entertain themselves. - bloatedmosquito

You're such a drama queen, the Canucks have, what, three Swedes on their team up until they traded for Lindholm? Every year Swedes help Canadians and Americans realize their dream of winning the Cup. Pettersson is the only one of real value that will help bring the Canucks playoff success.
Kinda like William Karlsson did for Vegas for their Cup, Landeskog did for the Avs Cup, Hedman (Conn Smythe) did for the Lightning for their Cups in 2020 & 2021, Backstrom did for the Caps for their Cup....you get the picture. - DraftandDestroy
I don't think he does.
You'll probably have to borrow one of the crayons from his mouth and draw it for him. |

I’m not worried about the yanks…well Boeser will get injured. The Swedes are in trouble. The team definitely missed out adding a banger at the deadline. Definitely a glaring hole especially with Joshua out |

Only a fool would think your nationality makes any difference in 2024 when it comes to success, years ago, sure, the league was primarily made up of Canadians and the Cup meant more to them. But those days are over.
You simply need size and depth in the playoffs now, regardless of where it comes from. In 2024 only just over 40% of NHL players are Canadians, in the 70's it was 96%, the 80's was 82%, the 90's around 74%, today it's 41%. - DraftandDestroy

The defense is where you need size, which is why Allvin went out and re-made the defense with much bigger dmen. Ya you need size up front but you need skill great goaltending, first and foremost.
In both 2020 and 2021 the Lightning had six of their top ten scorers in the playoffs being non Canadian, and both years a non Canadian won the Conn Smythe. Of the Avalanche's top ten playoff scorers in 2022, five were Canadian and five were not. All their depth guys were small skilled forwards.
There's more than one way to win it all these days, that being said, I would like a bit more size at forward for the Canucks. Podkolzin helps boost that number up a bit. |

Yeah Pods, Joshua, JTM, Laff can lay the body. Hogs hits too for what it’s worth. Canucks especially with big D can play it physical.

They say Bruin fans have a lot of short comings. - Quinn's Quest
Even when the Bruins won way back in 2011, of all their forwards who played in the playoffs they only had four guys over 200lbs, Lucic, Horton, Thornton and Seguin, who only played 13 games. Shawn Thornton had one assist in 18 games and probably averaged six minutes a game. But he was real intimidating for those six minutes.
You can be 195 lbs and play a heavy game, which they did, they also had lights-out goaltending that year. That pr!ck Tim Thomas was only in the league seven years and he won the Vezina twice, including 2011....freak!! |

Don’t forget about Pettersson. Ranks 5th on hits list.

As a comparison, Joshua ranks 10th in hits league wide.

Canucks Offer Hronek Extension
Allvin said the Canucks have offered Hronek a contract extension. The GM said the club tabled a fair offer to the blueliner but did not say if it was a long or short-term deal. Hronek is slated to become a restricted free agent.
The potential cap hit for the defenceman is up in the air, but it’ll likely be difficult to offer him a figure more than Quinn Hughes’ $7.850 million. Hronek has had a great season offensively for the Canucks, scoring five goals and posting 45 points in 65 games, ranking 12th in the NHL. However, he has struggled in the defensive zone, turning the puck over 46 times, 19th most among defenceman and the most on the club’s blue line. A cap hit under $7.5 million is reasonable for the 26-year-old. |

I don’t care about nationality I care about wearing down the opposing D over a long series. It’s miller and that’s it. Soft AF forwards. Podkolzin is league AVERAGE size. Next person that calls him a power forward needs a taser to the nuts |
