Zucker got nothing in return, Toffoli got almost nothing. Buyers market this year.

Definitely. Look where Ian Cole is now (VAN). That tells you all you need to know about why we dumped him ... and presumably other players like him.

Never understood why Cole and Sully were always at odds? Wasn't it something about Cole having fun at practice and goofing around?

Yeah hell of a year for the Pens to not be buyers and to trade their biggest asset in years. Almost have to laugh at the luck

Anyone have any updates or hearing anything about who we might be connected to or talking to? I can't find any indication anywhere.

The rumor was Sully didn't like his relationship with the media. Too friendly and honest. The fact that he was a good player seemingly didn't come into the equation.

Vegas and LA kings were both in on Smith from the rumors so hopefully he gets moved. Ned had a lot of buzz from a goalie market. So maybe he gets traded as well. I didn't hear a lot about Eller from rumor sites I think he stays today and maybe gets traded in the offseason.

Why trade Eller?

He's a good player on a good contract

Do the Pens have to decide before of the draft if they're keeping their pick if it falls below #10?

Like if they were wanting to see if certain players slipped in the draft they could hold it? If not they give it up on the fly?

Exactly. Could get value from a player that’s not a ton of use to us right now given the state of affairs.

I have toaster crumbs fresher than him. Unfortunately, I don't think Dubas has the stones to fire him. Sully still the most powerful person in the org.

I think we got a good deal on Jake.

I think his value hinges on who his C is. Jake is talented but Sid made Jake what he is. There is no telling how he is going to do in CAR with a different center.

Planning in trying to compete next year though

If we suck next year, then we move him at next years deadline

lol doing edibles while literally on a DoD sponsored trip would be quite the choice on my part

It’s a pretty big no no for security clearance holders. Just very dumb to risk it even if the chances of getting found out is minimal

I know many trades get confirmed but are released after the 3pm EST deadline, but it feels like the biggest surprise this year will be the fact that players that everyone expected to move at TDL are staying put.

I havent been there since I was a kid. Its our capital city and where our government Parliament buildings are, which is a tourist attraction for some but I couldnt give a flying F about that. I always wanted to skate the Rideau Canal, that looks so f'n awesome but obviously wont be frozen in July haha. Sorry I couldn't have been of much help with this. Its generally known as a very clean and friendly city.
- MattStrat

I've been through Ottawa twice and it is a beautiful city.

Also vacation within an hour or so every year so I can give you recommendations for fishing and small village pubs/restraunts.

Prices so low that Dubas abruptly changes course and becomes a late buyer and goes all in on this year?

So since Jake wasnt a sign and trade, to stay positive through this disappointing deadline...

Can we all hope that Jake has an absolutely terrible performance with the Canes and they lose out in the first round? Damages his value and we re-sign him in free agency for a 7x$7M deal or something? Just to stay positive?
