Dubas’ history of questionable player evals around the edges of the roster stretch back to Toronto. I don’t think this is just him being hamstrung, I think player eval just isn’t his strong suit.

I dont really agree with this. Name me one GM who didn't sign a player that did better elsewhere or made a bad trade. Where he came up short with TO was goaltending. Those TO rosters were very effective in every zone the last few years. Around Top 5 to 10 in pretty much every conceivable metric. None of this is to mention the successes he had as GM in AHL and OHL.

It’s gone downhill since NYT acquired it and downsized local staffs to focus more on churning out national news. What made the athletic so special was the collection of local talent. Now they’ve all started their own substacks and I just can’t pay that much money.

Did the same thing. Agree about the content. Don't care about 95% of it. I was going to cancel a couple of years ago and they offered me another year at $24. So I went with it, but wasn't paying attention and they hit me for $79. I figured it's futile trying to get my money back, but I immediately went to my account and canceled.

The last couple of games are the 1st meaningless games since Crosby's rookie season. It's tough to watch. Sucks being sellers. Really sucks. Kind of depressed tbh.

Reading up on Canes prospects. What is it about Drury that people like (feel he's mentioned a bunch). Seems like a potential 3C. Which is nice but hardly the main piece I'd want back.

Man am I nervous about hearing Bunting is likely involved. Hopefully that means Smith or Graves also going or it means we are getting a big haul.

My fear is Dubas fooling himself into thinking Bunting is an add in the trade. I'm fine adding him for the 3rd line but not super excited about him being a key piece of a deal.

It's rough for sure.

I'm hoping that the pick isn't too low (not top 5) and they just bite the bullet and give it up. Would hate to be in a scenario next year where the bottom could really fall out and we don't have that first.
