What I remember most about Guentzel was those 8 goals he scored against us in that 7 game series back in 2022.

Rangers had no answer for him.

I think he was playing with Crosby and on PP1, on the Rangers he will be playing with Mika and will be on PP2. His numbers will most definitely drop.

I still dont understand how needing a RW and trading for a LW solves our problem. Especially if subtracting KK, which I highly doubt Drury will trade to the Pens

Chemistry is the key to a teams success in the Post Season. If adding another LW JG will be playing his offside unless Panarin (highly unlikely) or CK20 are moved to their off wing.

I would have thought with all this time the team wanting to acquire a RW, they would have given Othmann a real shot at it.

It’s tough considering 2 of the other teams in the mix could be Rangers matchups in the postseason.

So it’s a huge addition for the Rangers, regardless of the position he plays, but also keeps the opponent from getting better too.

The prices floating around have been nuts though. If it’s a 1st, Sykora or Berard, Robertson or Jones then I can get behind it. Trading a 1st & Othmann or Kakko + to one of our 3 biggest rivals should be completely off the table.

I would circle back to Buffalo to see if they can pry Tuch. Would be a great fit on the 1st line. I believe only 27. Had some injuries over the past few years. I think KK would have to go but I’m willing. I know many would not agree, but only my opinion.

Trading KK for Tuck isnt moving the needle, they will still need another RW, you have to trade from your teams strength, which on the Rangers isnt RW or Center.

Guentzel scored 7 even strength goals in that series out of his 8 goals though

I wonder how other teams view his potential when considering trading for him. We have no problem assuming other clubs would jump at the chance to acquire him. It’s very possible that’s not the case.

With Crosby as his center. Mika isnt Crosby. To assume he will have the same success here is dangerous.

I dont know what you are trying to insist here. The Rangers need a RW so all Im saying is I wouldnt trade a RW for a RW. You would still need to acquire another RW.

Correct me if I’m wrong. Does Guentzel have a NMC on his current contract? Does he have a list of teams that he would only go to? Now I would think he’d go to any of the teams discussed. Drury is going to take this to the wire and I’m certain he has a fall back right up to 3pm tomorrow.

Another correct if I’m wrong. Guentzel kept scoring even after Crosby went out for those two games in that series. And remained productive when SC missed time. Yes I know Malkin moved up but I don’t think this is Kevin Stevens or Pascal Dupuis

That’s a very telling statement. Maybe it wouldn’t matter who the RW is, as you said and I agree Mika makes no one better. I doubt anyone can make him better, that’s a tall order for anyone coming in.

I don’t know if he is automatically not on PP1. And if he is on PP2, I think they should keep one of Panarin or Fox on for both.

And I agree with the premise that nobody is going to fix Mika. He has to find his offensive game all by himself. I still have faith in him.

What I’m saying is, perhaps other teams do not view Kakko as a trade target. We here on the blog are assuming he’s wanted by other teams.

The lack of respect for Mika is astounding. He’s had one bad year

Thats so true and I wouldnt bet other teams trying to low ball offers on him. Of course our fear is that once he leaves he finds his game and explodes.

Lack of respect? He is having a bad year, getting paid big bucks to produce, what else can you say?

Ultimately it hasn’t hurt us overall and I think he’s done enough to owe him time to get it together

Guentzel wouldn’t be good with Mika and kreider? that’s nuts

It's (frank)ing wild. I am frustrated with him too, but I refuse to engage in the discussion about him anymore.

If an another organization can convince him, the key to his success is 10-15 feet in front of the goal, and not dipesy doodling around the perimeter, it might happen to a certain degree.

Are you out of your mind? The Rangers are 1-2-1 in their last 4 games. This is a disaster.

Plus I don't know if you noticed but Guentzel has blonde hair while Mika and CK20 have dark hair...Oil and water Jimbo...Oil and water.

Also the narrative that he is only good because of crosby is just dumb. In 38 career games without crosby playing he has 40 points

Well since you want to be sarcastic bumhole, why bother adding a winger then??? They have been playing so well. We added a third line center now, we can continue to roll as is.
