Is that in the offseason or TDL ? I wouldn't do it at the Deadline. Like to see if Joker finishes strong. Might be the better player to keep
- Buff36

not meant to be a dig but what do you expect to see from him in the next 20 games that we did not see in the previous 289 games?

I don't get that either. We've known who Joker was for years. Hasn't changed much from his rookie year.

Well I think Dahlin and Joker have made a very good pair the last month, like to see if they can continue that. At this point Parayko isn't even playing any better than Joker and carries a 8mill in actual Cash for the next 2 or 3 years. Why should I pay that when I can get just as good if not better at half the cost.

He's a quality 3rd pair guy who can play in the top-4 if you need him to for a short time but he's never going to be an indispensable part of a top-4. He's running into the Risto problem where coaches can't help but play him more than they should.

In short, he's a convenient excuse not to upgrade the meat of the d group, and I fully expect Adams to utilize that excuse. Adams will keep Joker and will choose to nibble on the bottom pair by finding some grey beard to play with Cliffy hockey.

Why is Joker the excuse. Adams hasn't upgraded the Defense since he's been here.

Because he's just capable enough to say "we don't need to upgrade" while also being not good enough to depend on. Jokiharju is Mark Pysyk for Generation Z. Bland, tasteless oatmeal that will fill you up until lunch

I think dahlin is probably the current best defensive defenseman of the group.

Maybe pair him and power more, helps support powers lack of defense

Play them half the game together

Some numbers:

Joker w/ Dahlin 57.1% xGF
Dahlin w/o Joker 47.5%
Joker w/o Dahlin 45%

Samuelsson w/ Dahlin 50.1%
Dahlin w/o Samuelsson 52%
Samuelsson w/o Dahlin 53.5%

Power w/ Dahlin 56%
Dahlin w/o Power 52%
Power w/o Dahlin 49.1%
Power w/ Samuelsson 56.3%
Power w/ Joker 43.3%

Lot of takeaways here, but first reaction is: fire Donnie. He forces the two pairs that consistently don't work.

So if we ever do get to the playoffs there both Worn out as we get there. Don't mind seeing them together occasionally, but why not get a better partner for Power and and make your whole D core stronger throughout.

Those are Advanced Stats.
Donnie doesn't believe in them ... and why should he?
That's right, why? I mean, look at the standings for goodness sake.

So do you think any of those Numbers were given to Adams or Granato by the analytics Team back in November and just discarded.
I would have to think they were, we already know some thoughts on that.

Another thing to take away is that Joker isn't very good away from Dahlin and Power is really good with a decent partner.

Joker, Mitts, and UPL are all coming off bridges and all at relatively high values. Hell of a time to sell high on one or two. Running back Power + Joker should not be allowed.
