I almost wish they’d collapse down the stretch as opposed to vice versa

I don’t want them thinking they’re all good this offseason

- sbroads24

I know I have purposefully cheered for tanking in the past so this is going to sound incredibly ironic but aside from gaining a few extra percent in the Celebrini lotto losing doesn’t achieve anything this year.

A) Most of your contending core is already on the roster.

B) In my limited research to date on the draft class it seems like a pick your favour top 10 and a guy you might draft at 5 might be your guy at 10 regardless.

Interesting. 2nd line has been the best part of the team this year. 1st line is the concern, imo.
- Lunaion

I would like another guy that can work the boards and isn't shy about going to the net. I think you should have that on every line. I actually liked Krebs and Benson together, some reason JJ didn't look Comfortable. Go get Yakov Trenin and put him at wing on the line with Krebs and Benson. Let him work the boards and go cause havoc in front. Maybe he fits maybe he doesn't, but he popped 17 goals 2 years ago so he has some hands. Plus nobody would F@ck with Benson anymore. If he doesn't work he's a good addition for the 4th line.

Oh I’ll never actively root for losses at this point. But I just hope they know last offseason was a complete dud

Theu absolutely did. But I’ve always been a “lean into your identity” guy when it comes to sports.

It’s why I don’t want the Bills pivoting to a “balanced offense” team with Allen.

The way you win is with your strengths

- sbroads24

The Capitals never won until the committed to the defensive side of the game.

Look at every cup winner in years past and their back ends and the ability to win any type of game.

The Sabres of last year only had one gear, and quite frankly although the scored in bunches weee truly not a great even strength team.

They are trying to build a team that can have success in both seasons and Adams is GM’ing like he’s trying to solve the whole Rubik’s cube at once.

Sounds like you want to upgrade Greenway. Tough to do on a Donnie team.

They can't afford to overpay a 4th liner anymore, so they need to get it right.

When this Team is built right, I don't think Greenway can skate good enough to matter. Trenin can

That's fine and all, but do you see Greenway going anywhere next year?

You make it sounds like the defense is killing them. It's not. The offense (specifically the top line) is killing them.

I'd still like to know what the plan is. Their top 10 F's might return and 4 1st rounders are ready or very close, with no open top 9 spots. It seems very poorly timed and planned.

- Lunaion

Seems abundantly clear that they don't have a plan. They have a concept, and the concept is obvious.

In the first round, they take the most skilled player on the board, regardless of size, leaning heavily towards forwards.

It's the reverse Botterill, where he amassed a poop ton of defensemen, with no real short or long term plan on what to do with them.

It looks like they've drafted well, but if they are fully committed to all of Tage, Tuch, Skinner, Cozens, Quinn, Peterka, Mittelstadt and Benson, where is there room for any of those remaining good forward picks?

If your plan is to keep picking highly skilled forwards while already committing to almost an entire top 9 that is already in the NHL, then what the (frank) are you doing?

It's basically 2 conflicting plans that are starting to clash.

They both put him on and liked him on the top line.

How can anyone think Greenway is going anywhere?

Wouldn't shock me if they tried to extend Greenway after this season.

Why is Clifton involved in the Ozone so much. Stay at your position, playing that is hard enough for you already.

I did notice his name on a TDL list for the first time. It does make sense, even if I don't see them doing it.

Well you don't have to get rid of Greenway to fit Trenin.

Greenway's name was called out a couple of weeks ago as a TDL target for some teams.

I don't dislike his game, but what's the plan with him?

Committing to him would make a full top 9 forward group that they committed to.

I get changing your plan for Mitts. For Greenway? That would be a depressing move.

Get ready for the Bryson extension too, I guess.

Where does Trenin fit if Greenway already is occupying a top 9 role?

Who are you moving out to make room for Trenin in the top 9?

Give it to Bryson, kid has played well. Might get something for him.

Would it really surprise you re: Greenway?

Do you think their plan is to have him be a placeholder for the remainder of this season and next season, then just let him become a UFA and replace him with one of their 14 forward prospects?

He has been better, which is difficult for me to say. Since he entered the lineup the D seems more balanced.
