Gotta luv dem Swedes!!

On this day 40 years ago, a pair of #Canucks  records (which may never be broken) occurred on the road

That night @canucksalumni Patrik Sundstrom had 1G,6A in a big @Canucks 9-5 win in Pittsburgh

His 6 assists & 7 points remain single-game club records to this day

“If JT Miller continues at his current pace (109 pts) he would surpass Pavel Bure as the Canucks all-time leader in points per game by the end of this season.

For a guy they got for a conditional 1st, he’s undeniably become one of the most talented players in franchise history.”

Really depends on the prospect imo
- neem55

Sure. And the 2nd rounder turning into a player.

But for today, I think it’s a poor return, especially after all the posturing about holding out for a 1st.

Saw this tweet earlier today.
In
Yegor Sharangovich

Joni Jurmo
2024 1st
2024 2nd
2024 th (cond)
2024 5th
2026 3rd
2026 3rd (cond)

Out
Tyler Toffoli
Nikita Zadorov
Elias Lindholm
Chris Tanev

They still have a lot of good NHL players there and after that the cupboards will definitely be re-stocked. A lot of cap space gained there as well.

2 top 6 forwards and 2 top 4 Dmen.
For Sharon Govich, Kuzmenko and B prospects.
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th (plus scratch n wins).

That’s not a great return imo.

I remember when fans and some media types were complaining when they signed him to his current deal, a bit of anger and a whole lot of concern that he was signed to a long term deal before Pouty was. I had some trepidation about the term given.

Then Bieksa came out and said something like “you got to sign guys like Miller to long term deals, you win with guys like him…” Hockey guys know what it takes to win. Bieksa saw it immediately, obviously so did PA and JR.

You don’t think a guy like him will be needed in the playoffs? I’d keep him and then let him for a playoff run and then reassess his value over summer.

Seravalli: I'm told Pettersson went to the Canucks early this week and said let's end all this nonsense. Let's get a deal done, I want to stay in Vancouver.

Tanev and Zadorov? Calgary has a good defence. Zadorov wasn't playing top 4 and Tanev was their #4. Zadorov when Van's D is healthy is a #6.

Lindholm is having a season that resembles a mid tier 2lc. Playing like a 6M center.

Sharangovich has 3 less points than Toffoli.

That’s what I was thinking too.

Poor board work and no forecheck? Smallish and not intimidating, no locker room presence. Buddy to Petey so he can be soft too and they can circle jerk each other about how tough it is in the NHL.
Lots of people can stand in front of the net and tip pucks in the league.

Just screws the cap for the next couple of seasons. Sorry, makes things more difficult.

There have been 13 instances in NHL history where a player has recorded 100+ assists. Connor McDavid is on pace for 105.

The others?

Mario Lemieux once

Bobby Orr once

Wayne Gretzky 11 times.

The Benning contract and subsequent buyout of OEL is gonna hurt for a couple years but they’ll just have to deal with it.

I knew you’d take issue with that one.
Bottom 4 it is.

Sharan is a good player.

McDavid is a generational player, what he’s doing in todays game is amazing.

People can talk about how the game has changed all they want, nobody else was doing it except for 2 of the other greatest players in history who each accomplished the feat once.
