I’ve never been to the Roxy, I don’t actually know where it is?

I was there once. The band handed me a bottle of liquor when I was near the stage so I ended up drinking with them most of the night.

Without him the Canucks aren’t even a wildcard team, let alone a first overall team. He’ll re-sign in the summer and go on to become a top five draft pick in Canucks history.

Edit: on the flip side, if traded, you rarely get equal value, but the return would be great futures I’m guessing.

I know you said rarely but WPG got some good value for PLD.

Yes they did, they screwed the Kings (for now), however, one team out of fifty trades like that getting good value doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. It's really hard to get good value back unless the team your dealing with is very deep with talent and prospects, which the Kings were.

The Jack Eichel trade being an example, yes they got a good player in Alex Tuch for Eichel, and he's probably out produced Eichel, but he's a winger which doesn't hold as much value as a center and he doesn't move the needle like Eichel does. Buffalo still floundering away out of the playoffs. Eichel probably should've won the Conn Smyth for the VGK, he's younger, a center, but he is oft injured.

As I said, you just don't replace a top young player like EP40 by trading him away. If you have depth like Winnipeg, sure, you can add to what is an already good team and become better, but IMO the Canucks aren't like the Jets. They are very dependent on their four top players. Have you ever heard a player complain to the media besides Luongo complaining about a multi million dollar contract or the Maple Leafs whining about a suspension?

PLD and Petey on are completely different levels though, not even close to comparable.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, in 53 years the Canucks have had one elite level center (Henrik Sedin) and zero elite level defensemen, they now have both, the team is at the top of the league, but a small idiot percentage of the fans want to get rid of one of them. You just can't make this shit up!!

The Canucks have some great fans, but there's certainly some dumb, loud, and vocal ones out there who are in the minority when it comes to this sort of nonsense. Much like Buffalo, the Canucks can't have nice things because they're always in this perpetual cycle of chasing something better, but never able to find it. The organization needs stability, I think Rutherford and Allvin will screen out the idiots out there and continue to build with the great young players they have. Successful franchises don't keep trading away star quality players hoping to find something better.

The expansion cousins are very similar in a lot of ways, Sabres had some good years when they had Perrault by winning the spin of the wheel and the Hasek years, other than that they havn’t been very good.

If you look back historically it's been ongoing since they came into the league and continued right up to the Benning years where he was trading for guys like Gudbranson while trading away young players and picks.

Go back to 1979, traded Rick Vaive who would go on to score 400 goals, didn't sign Dirk Graham who would become captain and a great leader in Chicago while having a good career. Cam Neely, for nothing. Petr Nedved scores 38 goals 71 points as a 20 year old and they won't sign him because of 500k dollars, was he a super-star, no, but he was a good player who'd go on to score 717 points which would put him 5th all-time in Canucks history.

The organization needs stability, it's taken almost nine years of Benning losing to build some great young players, now build around them.

Canucks still haven't determined if he is a center or not yet.
