Ok let me clarify that 98% of the people here have no idea when it comes to good beer. Someone who says they are a Stout drinker and lists Guinness as their favorite clearly hasn't had enough to compare to. Try some Young's Double Chocolate, Weyerbacher's Old Heathen and Heresy, Avery's Mephistopheles, Victory's Storm King and Rogue's Chocolate Stout. All far above and beyond Guinness. I'm also sick of the American vs. Canadian Macro debate. They're all swill. Just because Labbatts flavors their beer with rusty nails doesn't make it any better than any Coors or A-B product. And how in the hell can anyone get drunk off of Coors Light??? After 6 of them, you're running to the bathroom every 5 minutes. But, anyway, just to stay on topic, here are my picks:

Best Beer: St. Bernardus Abt 12
Best Session Beer: Czechvar
Worst Beer: Ed's Cave Creek Chili Beer (Honorable mention to all the American & Canadian Macros also)

- dorneydude

That fact that Coors is a good getting drunk beer is that it doesn't taste like sh!t (due to the fact that it is watered down) and it's cheap. Hence why I won't mind going to a house party and bringing that instead of paying double for Hieniken.

Secondly if someone says Guiness is there fav than guess what.. It's their favorite. Because you vote for other beers as being on top means nothing to the person who drinks and likes Guiness. I have many friends that like Budwieser. I hate it. I will not drink it. But enough people must like it because they stay in buisness. Doesn't mean they don't know anything about beer. Just means that's what they like.

I have said I haven't tried nearly as many beers as I should have. But from what I've had I like those. And I keep buying those because I like them. Trying other beers isn't going to make me like Corona or Heiniken's any less...

I was almost starting to agree with you, until you mentioned Corona.

Why. Corona isn't a bad beer. I like it. I like Heiniken better. If there's both choices I choose Hiney's but there's nothing wrong with that mexican beer. Also Sagres isn't a bad beer either I believe it's Portuguese. Brahma is a Brasilian beer which I really like too just never have to often.

I never had a Heineken that didn't taste like it was filtered through a skunk. A good alternative to Heineken would be Czechvar. If you can find it, check it out. A good Mexican alternative to Corona would be Carta Blanca. Hell, even Tecate & Negra Modello are pretty good, for Mexican brews.

Favorite beer - Newcastle or Fat Tire

Least favorite - anything served with a piece of fruit on the bottle - Corona w/lime, Wheat Beer with lemon/orange - c'mon it's a beer, not a fruit salad

Best getting drunk beer - either Natural Ice/Light or Beast from my college days, although I did get trashed on a Killian's keg once...that was fun

Beer in a green or clear bottle = high chance for skunking. I avoid them unless I know they are fresh.

Heineken from a can is actually much better than the bottled version.

Guinness isn't a bad stout, it's probably the best widely-available irish stout out there. My favorites are Dogfish Head's Worldwide Stout, Stone's Imperial Russian Stout, Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout, and Sam Smith's Imperial Stout. I've had Rogue's Chocolate Stout, it was great, for sure. And I've heard about Young's, been wanting to try it for a while but I've never seen it in stores here.

PS Corona is horrible. Last party I went to, it was either Corona or a pina colada with a pink straw with a little pink paper flamingo on it... went with the colada.

Any one have any thoughts on the Guinness draft in a bottle? It really doesn't taste like tap Guinness or the old style canned brew, but I still like it.

You can not replicate the Nitrogen draft Guinness...that's when it's at it's best. The 'draft' bottel is ok, not tops when compared with other bottled stouts. Guinness and Boddington's on tap are heavenly when poured right. Just below room temp, solid head. Yummy.

Absoultley agree on the nitrogen beers, I had Boddington's in a can and when you open it a little nitrogen bottle goes off, still no where near the taste from the tap, that's the only time I drink it.

I had Guiness on tap from a resturant near my place... It was god aweful. I never thought I would say this about Guiness but it was watered down. My buddy told me though since it was a new resturant the pipes for the tap were still new and that's probably why they had a funny watered down flavor. Anyone ever heard of this?

I have never heard the watered down flavor, but I have heard that it takes some breaking in and they have to get the gas mixture just right. Guiness sends trained people to check on pouring quality etc. maybe they need to get into this place.

I'm going to back track through this tread and make a list of all the beers I should try. Then cross them off one by one. However there's a few I might not be able to pronounce.. ^^^^^^

I couldnt disagree more with the Canadian Macro stuff. Molson Canadian is just about the best summertime drinking beer made. Best drinking beer for the money.

I just don't like the beer "connoisseurs" thinking if you drink Molson or Labatt's your stomach is going to eat itself.

Sometimes you don't need some "exquisite" taste, you just want to drink something that gives a good buzz without making you wince at the taste.

There are so many areas of concern, I like Molson Canadian when I'm having a bunch, mainly due to cost vs taste ratio. Some of the other beers are very good and very expensive, plus after a few you get filled up, they're not good all day beers. I like an ocassional Corona when it's hot and I'm just chiiling, I think it's refreshing but too light for me normally. So many factors and so many beers!

You guys have to try the new "blonde" beers out there. Blue Moon and Sam Adams White Ale. They are pretty good and go down real smooth. Who couldn't drink a nice blonde or 2 every once in awhile.

Worst: Anything with Genny or Budweiser on the label

Best: Any Buffalo Brew Pub Beer

Getting Drunk Beer: Anything resembling a Candian Beer at the Arena

I know what you mean, I'm one of those whackos that actually like Budweiser....call me crazy but to me it tastes like "beer". I like a good mico brew everyone once in a while, but after a long week of working sometimes I just want to knock back a bunch, and for that Molson, Bud, and LaBatt are my go to. Miller when I'm poor - which is often now adays.
