alrighty. spellbound brewing ipa.

you may remember that i tried their pale ale sometime around the holidays i guess it was. i enjoyed it so why not give the ipa a try? also they are from mt. holly, nj which i can throw a stone to unless 295 is all backed up. then the stone takes like an infuriating 45 (frank)ing minutes to get there.

i digress.

anyway, it's very good. a nice piney hop bitterness which i have been craving for months but i keep bringing home disappointing beer or beer that's so far beyond its best buy date that it's a nasty malt bomb.

this is a nice crisp, clean, delicious ipa. 6.5% and 75 ibu. also, the 6 pack was $9.99 which was at least a dollar cheaper than just about every beer around it, so that's nice of them.

i notice that their beers don't get the highest numbers from the beer rating sites but i've really enjoyed both that i've tried so far.

i'm giving it 8.3 s2tp's

stone go to ipa

daeth recommended this to me a few months ago as a low abv, hoppy choice. i looked it up and it got great numbers if i remember correctly.

it's very very good. i prefer the ripper that they make but i could see myself drinking the (frank) out of this when it's hot in a few weeks ( )

definitely different hops used here than the beer i just got done drinking but very much along the same lines of enjoyment. my only issue with this is that they wrote "a vibrant hop-bursted session ipa" on the can and to be honest i don't quite get the hops bursting part. i taste them but it's not super hoppy and while it's bitter it's not that snappy kind of bitterness that i really enjoy.

all of that being said, it's a very good beer and i'm giving it 8.3 s2tp's as well.

so this is a successful national beer day. i got 2 very good beers.

i know i've done the one on the left but i don't remember if i've done the cape may ipa on the right there.

it was very good. the hops i'm looking for with a nice snappy pine/citrusyness going on. especially the citrus.

i was surprised by how good this beer was.

it seems like all these people make is (frank)ing peanut beer and cucumber beer and diarrhea beer.

pretty much tells me they can't seem to make a good beer flavored beer so they mask their poop product with gimmickry.

it's really dumb. i guess i don't blame them for doing it since it sells so it's the idiots that drink it that should be ashamed.

i know i've done this rant many times before but the best gimmick beers are the ones where the gimmick is so subtle that it just tastes like a normal beer. so what's the point? then they raise the price of the beer from like $3 to $10 because the monkey poop coffee beans they made it with are expensive. (frank) off.

exactly. if i'm buying a beer i'm pretty clearly looking to drink a beer.

if they want to add mango or grapefruit or whatever it should just be a little something that you taste in the background. but the main taste should be beer. i've very rarely had a good fruit or novelty beer where the added gimmick taste really popped. maybe the magic hat grapefruit one or the new belgium tangerine one (although i wouldn't really want to sit and drink a bunch of the tangerine one).

We can trace back the terribleness that is the flavoured beer to the belgian wit.

Except in the case of coffee/chocolate porters/stouts. Or fruit lambics.

or St. Ambrose's apricot.

or KLB raspberry wheat.

But other than that, (frank) flavoured beers.
