3oz tasters for a little over a buck means I'll get to taste a lot.

give it a try then. rodenbach grand cru is a pretty decent starter beer for the style. it leans more towards sweet/sour end of things though it smells a touch like vinegar. some in the style are super acidic but not this one.

all their belgian ales are good. their other stuff is all meh though. honker and their ipa aren't great. still drinkable but i wouldn't buy them unless there's nothing else around like when i'm at a jays game.

Despised it in bottles, tasted like stale bread, but had it on cask and it was pretty good for an English bitter. Was probably fresher, as they now brew it here in Montreal.

I liked the Honker

unfortunately, there wasn't room for everyone near their upstairs bar, which had all the craft stuff, so we had to go downstairs with a decent selection, but most of which I'd had already... so the Honker was the only new thing I wound up trying.

Bought one of these today:

any serving tips I should know? like temp/glass type?

you need a glass that can fit all 500 ml. when pouring leave a bit of beer in the bottle and swirl it around to get all the yeast off the bottom, then add that to your glass. the flavour really depends on the yeast which is typical for the style.

also prepare to get heavily buzzed off just one beer

their glasses are weird, i'd say anything that opens up a bit from the base? not a stem. they always roll it gently and do a flourishing fancy pour when my friend orders it at my local.

Someone came up with the idea to take Aventinus and mix it with Aventinus Eisbock, barrel age them, and use brett and/or lactobacillus.

Give that man or woman a nobel prize.

holiday parties. i had a smithwicks (meh), a sam adams cream stout (which was actually pretty good), and a bunch of allagash white (very good) out at a bar we went to on black friday.

the rest of last week i consumed bourbon and red wine in mass quantities like a (frank)ing conehead.
