I've had Yeungling the last 2 years i visited Buffalo for Bills games. I was not a big fan! It was free so I drank it, but I wouldn't buy it thats for sure.

Everyone has different taste though.

Considering you're a Leafs fan, it's no surprise you have no taste!

I never tried that one. I was only in Madison for a month, and I had Spotted cow each time I sent to State street. I managed to bring a case home with me. I'm down to 19 beers left. I'm trying to spread it out until I can convince any kid from Wisconsin who goes to ASU to bring me down a case or 2

Still a few weeks before our golf trip in Myrtle Beach.....our official beer when we are there: Yuengling! Great beer!!!

It's from Pennsylvania (I think)....

- Mike Komisarek

It is from PA, one of the oldest brews in the States, I like it, got some taste. I like all the Bud bashing can remember when they started selling it in Canada and I just wondered WHY?

Car thefts targeting Americans

Max Harrold
Montreal Gazette

Monday, July 09, 2007

MONTREAL - Dave Marricco has a message for whoever stole his deluxe $53,000 2007 Ford F350 pick-up truck while he was visiting Montreal for the Grand Prix last month.

"I'll give you $10,000 (U.S.) if you just give me back the video that was in the truck," Marricco, 27, who owns a construction company and lives in Westchester, N.Y., said Monday.

"What matters more than anything is the video: (it's of) my son's first Christmas, the first time he said mama, dada, everything."

Marricco is just one of hundreds of American tourists whose rosy image of Montreal has taken a beating because of a raft of car thefts in the city this summer.

Since last Thursday, 20 Americans reported their cars stolen and 20 others said their vehicles were broken into in what they claim was a car theft ring targeting them because they were here for an annual fastpitch softball tournament for girls age 13 to 19.

The addresses of playing venues and hotels where players and their families would be staying were published on a website of the Quebec Softball Federation, enabling thieves to locate a bounty of expensive SUVs, some parents said.

"My daughter was petrified," said Rich Poteri, 43, of Milford, Pa. whose $40,000 white Hummer SUV was stolen Saturday.

"She didn't feel safe at all," Poteri said of his daughter, 13. "She'll remember that about Montreal for the rest of her life."

Montreal police Const. Laurent Gingras would not confirm a published report that 20 cars were stolen and 20 others were broken into.

Montreal police are trying to determine how many vehicles were stolen, from where, and if the thefts specifically targeted the 14th annual International Fastpitch Softball Championship.

The vehicles, Hummers, Cadillacs and the like, all had American plates, turning the international tournament into an international incident. A few U.S. teams pulled out of the tourney because of the thefts. Other visitors even slept in their cars to protect them.

Quebec Softball Federation officials say the thefts mean some U.S. teams won't return.

"This has really stained our reputation," Chantal Gagnon, general-manager of the federation, said Monday. "Some teams are saying they won't come back next year."

The tournament took place in seven parks in and around Montreal from Thursday until Sunday. Gagnon said the thefts were reported at six of the parks and some hotel parking lots where parents of players were staying.

We chickened out and declared it. They didn't seem to care. We lucked out really.

I've been caught not declaring a few caases in the trunk before, they just had me pay the duty and promise not to do it again! When they first opened the trunk I said "how did that get there", boarder guards don't have a great sense of humor.

I got caught at the border, and they said we can't let you in, you've been arrested. I thought for a minute, and said "yea 29 years ago for an open container, you guys don't drink beer in Canada?"

I had to pay a $250 fine.

Yea, they called the fine to get into Canada a "Queen's Pardon". That offense was in California, btw, not Canada.

They can be tough, one time when I was staying for a week I brought in a bottle of Vodka from the duty free. They pulled me over and said since I was renting a cottage they were treating me as a Canadian Citizen and I had to pay duty. They charged me $32.00 for a $10.00 bottle of Vodka and made me pay in US Funds (exchange was 25% at the time). They try to push your buttons so they can really give you a harder time, you just have to take a breath and pay the man.

Mexican Beer Sucks!!!

I recently read an article about the 10 best beer cities in the world (don't feel like looking for the link - just google it and you'll probably find it), and Mexico City was listed.

It mentioned that "Modelo" and "Tecate" were great beers. Even though these beers are sold at my corner store, I never had them. So I decided to be open-minded and try them...like throwing money down the drain!!!

Modelo and Tecate are no better than Bud Light or Miller. No taste at all. I almost cried. However, a few weeks before I tried "Negro Modelo" at a restaurant, and this was okay.

However, the Dominican Republic makes a decent beer: "Presidente". It's a pilsner that tastes alright, kinda like the Czech "Pilsner Urquell". Not quite, but alright. If it's at your local store, you could do much worse.
