VERY GOOD

- Don'tForgetTocchet

I always think of Saisons as being spring/summer beers. Bit dumb of me but they're usually seasonal beers here so I guess that explains it.

Which reminds me. We're getting some nice beers over here this spring.

Gouden Carolus Tripel (love love love their Cuvee Van De Keizer Blauw)
St Feuillien Grand Cru (only $3.5 per 330ml bottle )
Abbaye des Rocs Grand Cru
Panil Sour again
La Divine St Landelin
Kuhnhenn 4D (says aged so I'm hoping it's the Bourbon barrel one)

Then a bunch of hop bombs that look decent.

Yeah. I really like rye malt, apparently. This stuff is plenty tasty, and not all big and high abv like other Cali IPAs, so it's also drinkable.

i'm not sure it's usually my type of beer, but this one was good.

i'd buy it again and i probably will.

Had this guy last night. I really liked it, other reviews I've read are very hit and miss though. It is on the sweet side and not hugely complex so it might not nail the style perfectly, but who cares it was tasty and super drinkable for 10%abv

Had the white for Weihenstephaner and loved it. Dark sounds even better.

Never even heard of this until today when I picked one up. I'll have one next weekend probably. It was a blind buy so I was happy to see it has great reviews.

Got a ton of these today too. Still one of my favourite trappists.

I agree, it has an aftertaste that is industrialish.

Probably because it's so hoppy? It's dry hopped and everything.

Charlevoix Lupulus sort of has the same kind of thing going on. Excellent beer but because of how hoppy it is I don't think you'd like it.

There seem to be quite a few people who aren't fond of it. It's a pretty unique beer, especially for a Belgian. Doesn't really fit the style in a lot of ways which I think throws some people off. If I had it in a blind tasting before having tried it previously I'd probably have it pegged as a North American Belgian IPA or something.

It has that nice funkyness you expect from a beer of the style going on but it's kind of dominated by the hops. Non of that dried fruit or candy sugar goodness you get with standard trappist ales. It's unique which is probably why I like it so much.

I never noticed a hoppiness to it

I remember liking it at first and the after taste being horrible

It's strong on the floral hops to go with the barnyardy funk & yeast on the nose to me, at least if it's fresh. Has a bit of cider hidden in there too. Taste is more of the same really. Pretty herbal and spicy with some citrus and funk, finishes pretty dry and tart and lingers forever.

Dernier Volonte is another one that is kind of similar. Soooooo good. I'm a sucker for these kinds of beers though so I'm super biased. I have no problem admitting that.

If it's not your thing I can def see why the aftertaste would kill it for you.
