That was one of the things I guessed at when talking to a friend about the difference this year. When I had it last year it had been sitting there for probably 6 months I guess? I just couldn't wait this year lol. I'll get another bottle and drink it in the spring I guess.

From my experience La Terrible does age really well though so I am planning on aging a few bottles and having them over the next few years. I've been aging a 6 pack of La Fin Du Monde too (removed the foil on the bottles as suggested, apparently it rusts). They are turning 1 years old this year. They grow up so fast

Apparently La Terrible was bottled much later this year than last in proximity to it's release date, I was told. Again I'm no expert, but ima let those babies sit.

I tried a choklat last wknd(hadn't had it before) I thought it was good, but yeah I could go for a more robust chocolate taste. Letting 3 bottles sit now for a few months.

Some of my recent conquests:

Delicious as everything is from them

Kind of artificially chocolatey as it uses coco powder ... but was still pretty good

Wanted to like this more than I did ... found it just ok

Not nearly as flavourful as the barrel aged reserve version ... but still pretty good

More blackberry in the nose than flavour, but pretty nicely done.

Bought one of these last night, the 2012 edition. I've heard good things about it so I'm looking forward to it.

Got one of these too, but the 2012 edition with the new label. I had it last night. It was the first time I've had it fresh. It was interesting. I think it's a bit better when it has a year or two on it but it was nice to try it fresh anyway.

edit:

There's the new label. Looks nicer now.

Really enjoyed the Trois Mousquatieres Doppelbock ... I'll have to keep an eye out for the Weizen.

It's really sweet (literally). Strong on the dried fruit and sugar/caramel. It tastes more like a Belgian strong ale to me than a weizenbock. A freshly poured glass of the 2012 even has the Belgian yeast aroma you'd expect from a Belgian strong but fades as the head dies down. I don't recall noticing that with aged bottles.

The typical banana and clove character takes a back seat with this beer but it is there.

sounds pretty good. we're getting "yellow snow" from them soon. nice name lol.

I sampled my friends bottle of this recently. I didn't really get more chocolate from this than I would a standard stout or porter though. Didn't really pick up the cranberries either but I did find it had a bit of an acidic thing going on that was probably from them. Total waste of cranberries and chocolate but it was alright.

had a bottle of winter beard last year, really liked it.

I'd imagine it's one of those beers you really need to try on tap.

On tap I guess it'd be creamy but the flavour just didn't blow me away. I'd say St Ambroise Oatmeal Stout at 5% is more flavourful, and weirdly enough more chocolatey even though it's not brewed with chocolate like Winter Beard.

Good but not great lol.

description says it's Romanians doing the work.

It is possible that they'd be working with such disregard for the product... however it is not possible that they'd be working with such intensity.
