I didn't realize it said the triangle fact on the label. Haven't drank it in a while. More of a Harp-Guiness half and half fan when the Irish are on tap.

I'm in Seattle and there's a tap of Trois Pistoles right now. So good.

I'd almost put Belgian beers in a separate thread, a completely different animal than North American beers.

If it were socially acceptable to eat straight hops, I think I would. Stone IPA is fantastic as well.

I actually had this in a bar down in Windsor... I was visiting a friend there, and we went for some drinks. We saw this on the menu, and well, had to get it... Skittlebrau *drools*

I think The Simpsons popularized the skittles brew fad.

I've never had a black and tan with Harp. I've had it with Bass though, which oddly enough is apparently the traditional way of doing it so I've been told. If there's any truth to that I couldn't tell you.

Best Tasting:Boreal Black....had it in Montreal and have never found it anywhere else (I'm from Buffalo...in fact if anyone knows where I can find it locally, let me know)

Best for Boozin: Molson - no way is it like Coors, by the way

Worst: KEYSTONE - good god it is bad

- Brian Moorman

I've had the Boreal brands before too and have only seen it in Montreal. I think it's a local brand. That happens a lot in Quebec. They have some amazing beer there like Molson Ex Light, Labatt Blue Dry, Laurentide (not sure if this is still around, but when it was, it was great).

Black and Tan = Guiness and Bass
Half and Half = Guiness and Harp

Different drinks, different names. I think the other one is called the half-and-half because they're the same company. Bass is on its own. Though most people think they're related.

I consider them to be one and the same, just two names for the same thing. I guess it could depend on where you live or whatnot.

That's for sure. I've heard it this drink both ways. The names of drinks are subjective to the area where you order it.

it was just a bar, a small one, kind of dark inside too... i believe it was a 1 word name, and that the spelling wasnt the "proper" spelling for it either... i'll try to ask my friend next time i talk to her..

I'm only 22 so I haven't had a chance to try to many beers. This is one of the ones I haven't. I'm Brasilian and my Pops was pretty relaxed with everything so I started drinking early but now that I'm of age I wan'na go to one of the bars in NYC that likes like 50,000 different beers or some crazy number like that and start trying stuff out.

I can think of three on the West side. Big Richard's, Twig and Berries or Spicoli's.

Oh and damn you Americans talking about Labatt Blue. Just because of that I had to pick up a 6 pack for tonight. I've had it on my mind since this thread started!

You're hard to please, Dop! I am of the opinion that beer goggles would not be necessary for this Fräulein.

OK, ladies! Grab yet textbooks cuz daddy's gonna take y'all to school! Beer school that is!

The best beer in the land is none other than the La Chouffe Golden Ale.

- Rayzablades

I've never had it since it's not available where I live at all, but since I like strong Belgian style beers I'd probably like it. Based on descriptions of its taste I'd say it sounds a lot like La Fin Du Monde (or the other way around rather).
