Here you go! Sounds disgusting, sort of like a rauchbier gone horribly wrong.

When maple is added it definitely can be. Did I mention I hate maple beers?

I didn't think Rogue made a single bad beer but now I'm not sure. They must've been dribnking their own beer when they came up with the idea.

"Hey, lets make a beer that tastes like doughnuts, maple syrup, and bacon"

I usually like trying weird stuff like this but that was too much!

The juniper berry one is (frank)ing gross, Little John? maybe? Then again I got so (frank)ed off gin one time that I can barely smell a christmas tree without barfing.

Had this tonight. Slightly disappointing after the Hopfen Weisse's I've had recently. For me it's a definite step down. This is basically a slightly more hopped version of their standard weisse (which essentially has no hop flavour) with a slight increase in flavour intensity across the board. Slight though, very slight. Aventinus and Hopfen Weisse go nuts with their flavour intensity. I was hoping for more of the same with this but it wasn't mean to be.

Good thing I didn't buy more today before having this. Oh wait.

So it's still a great beer, but I was hoping it was going to be insanely great. I'm spoiled.

It was good but I came in with ridiculously high expectations I think. Feels weird being disappointed in a beer that tastes better than Weihenstephaner hefeweizen.. a beer that has been consistently one of my favourites for ~8 years.

edit

Slightly unrelated but I want an infinite supply of hopfen weisse. That is all.

I saw a plumber snake a clogged riser in an apartment building the other day and the sludge he pulled out is depicted here.

Went to a tasting on Friday, pretty small samples and didn't take any notes but:

Bia Bitter Ale - pretty meh, crisp and clean, not much to it though.

Orkney Dark Island - fantastic dark brown ale, nice smokey chocolate tones to it

Orkney Dark Island Reserve- same as above but aged in whiskey cask ... unreal flavour, potent with a nice whiskey sweetness to it

Orkney Skull Splitter - One of my favourites of the night, smooth with some nice grapey type fruit notes, 8.5% abv, will knock your d!ck in the dirt

Bad Attitude 2 Penny Porter - really nice porter, some rich coffee flavours

Bad Attitude Hipster Pilsner Wine - apparently only deemed a "wine" due to the higher alcohol content, good summer time pil, kind of earthy/grassy

Bad Attitude Hobo IPA - not big on hops so this didn't do a whole lot for me, initial flavour was pretty decent, the strong bitter hoppy aftertaste is what did me in on this one though.

Boont Amber Ale - This one topped the night for me, best Amber I've ever had. Great caramel malt taste, just a bit of hoppy bitterness to balance it out

De Molen Bloed, Zweet & Tranen (Blood, Sweat & Tears) - This was like drinking a smoked ham. A small glass would be a nice touch with some BBQ, I don't know how anyone could power through an entire bottle of this stuff though.

Good call on the Boont, they also make a nice Porter, "Black Butte," not on the sweeter side.
