Troegs Hop Cyclone

Normally I wouldn’t fux with this because it’s 9% and I typically stay clear of anything over 8. But it’s Troegs so I had to try it. I also love me some hazy ipas. This is very good. You don’t get the alcoholy taste you typically get from those high abv jawns. Nice pine and malt balance.

WOOOOOOOO!

so i'm pretty sure i've had the Dogfish Head American Beauty Ripple IPA before. it's pretty good. nice pop to it. 8.2 S2TPs.

i feel like i must've had a bad experience with an Abita beer because i subconsciously seem to steer clear of them. but i'd never heard of Hop-On and it sounded good to me so i grabbed it. it says "juicy pale" right on the can but i wasn't feeling the juicy part as much as with some other beers. it's a real good beer but maybe not a great beer, imo anyway. it is hoppy and i do like that. maybe i just got a weird one but i'm coming up with more dank than juicy. i like it though. i'd drink it again and i will because i have a few left in the fridge. 8 S2TPs.

anyone who has been following along for the last 15 years (and let's face it, who hasn't?) already knows how i feel about union jack, can o' bliss, and dale's pale ale. however, Firestone Walker's Propagator Citra and Oskar Blues' G'knight were new to me.

the Propagator Series Citra was awesome. not for everyone maybe, but it was right up my alley. it says grapefruit on the label, it tastes like grapefruit, and i love grapefruit so we have a good thing here right off the bat. but there is a little bitterness toward the end and you also already know how essential that is to me. so while this may be a 7.75 s2tp beer to some people it's an 8.75 or 9.0 or some poop to me. i really, really enjoyed this and i'm happy that i have 2 more in the fridge.

(frank) that G'Knight. not my kind of beer. i knew after one sip that i'd drink it if i had to but i was in the middle of a zoom call and i had other stuff in the fridge that i knew i wanted so i dumped this and moved on. would not buy again. yucky beer IMHO!!

the breweries both threw their diet beers into the variety packs.

i decided to give one a try today and i have to say, i'm pleasantly surprised. it's 96 calories and 5g of carbs and i was expecting it to be one of those things where you can't even drink it and it gets the sink. but it's fine. totally doable. it's crisp. not really hoppy but it's more all juiciness. it's maybe a little much on the juiciness, but it's fine. it's like grapefruit and lemonade. it's only 4.0% abv, so just drink more.

there is no finish. like none. it just disappears. it's weird. like magic. so i mean that happens.

but for realz, this is much better than i was expecting. i should have known that if someone could do this right it would be firestone walker.

so do you guys remember a little while ago when i was talking about diet beers? well here is the other one.

also 5g of carbs but 4 more calories. also only 4.0% abv.

it's more hoppy and grassy but it also isn't very good. it's got a weird taste to it. i checked to see if it was old or something but it's fresh AF. it's still better than your miller 64 or whatever but this is nothing like the breakthrough that was that last one.

I would like to try this. I am forever in debt to Firestone Walker as their black rye ipa turnt me into an IPA lover.

every once in a while i tell you about beers from iron hill brewery/restaurant and they've all been really good. today i had their citra ipa and it was not a letdown. probs 8.15 S2TPs. very nice beer.

they also have good burgers and stuff so if you live near one you should go there. i had the brewski burger. i also had a few bites of something called the figgy piggy grilled cheese sandwich and that was pretty damn good too.

i also sampled their current pig iron porter and russian imperial stout and both were very very good.

that is all. bye bye for now.

welp, it's just okay. oskar blues makes better beers than this.

i'm not really getting any of the NE IPA traits that i like. even though it's been in the fridge since lunch and in the freezer for 10 minutes when i got home, it just goes down like warm beer.

this is also a beer that makes you thirsty. not like, when you wakeup dehydrated, i mean after every sip.

pretty disappointed.

it's 7% though. you may like it. it's just not my favorite. i read a few reviews where people were talking about tasting all this passionfruit and poop, but i didn't get any of that from it.

I Just love ginger beers because i use them in making my moscow mules(my fav.).
In ginger beer i love Powell and Mahoney Blood Orange. But i am fond of trying various ginger beers. I always check any new ginger beer and try it once.

Also like some home made Ginger Beer. It is easy to prepare homemade ginger beer.

so, someone bought this for me to try. look up a pic of the label because it totally is the golden girls with bull heads.

anyway, a bit much on the everything for my tastes. it's a white stout to start with, and i haven't had much success with those. it's brown sugar, cinnamon, coffee, cocoa, kitchen sink, etc. it's just way too many flavors stomping all over one another. and it's too malty for me. it was a 6% beer that drank like a heavy 12% beer for some reason.

but it's the thought that counts and i appreciated the gift.

so then i had an abita purple haze, which i think i've had before but i don't know for sure. it has raspberries added. usually not my thing but it smelled great and i have to admit i enjoyed it.

so then, i was handed a dogfish head fruit-full fort.

i'd never even heard of this. it's also a berry beer. a bunch of different berries.

as soon as i sipped it i was knocked on my ass. i handed it to kickbro. "take a sip of this, this is brandy or something, right?" it was boozy AF but the label didn't give any ABV. apparently even dogfish head can't quite wrap their heads around it because the website lists it at "15-18 ABV". so yeah, it was boozy.

i wouldn't buy it myself and it's probably one of those beers that's $7 for one bottle anyway, but i'm glad i've experienced it because it was unique obviously.

again, too malty for me. and way too high in ABV for what i usually like.

Not my thing either but I’m glad I’ve tried one. Not sure why they don’t list the abv of their beers that are that high, but yeah anything with that cap is deadly.

i went to the liquor store on lunch to get a gift, but you know..

anyway, my beloved cigar city guayabera was right there. but a little over 4 months old and i didn't want to deal with the disappointment if it was terrible after 4 months.

so i fell back on the tonewood freshies and it was as bomb as ever.

i'm trynta tell you, i don't know how far they distribute, but if you see it in your store, buy it.
