Sabres are overloaded with 1st rounders.

They're supposed to move out prior 1st rounders to make room for the new 1st rounders?

- kingcong39

They've had 3 years to plan for this and probably would have made the playoffs if they didn't insist on making those picks and holding onto all the prospects.

Assuming the Mitts rumors come to fruition, your top 9 for the bulk of the season is back (Tage, Skinner, Tuch, Cozens, JJ, Quinn, Mitts, Greenway, Benson). Where do Krebs, Rosen, Kulich, Savoie, and Ostlund fit? Feels like this audition results in moving Mitts or Krebs this offseason.
- Lunaion

Yup.

Mitts in the offseason
Krebs on a low cost budget, then moved in 2 seasons at the TDL.

They have the 25th PP and 26th xGF/60 on the PP. They aren't good at generating quality chances.

December was a blackhole month. Since then, it's been about 1 goal below average. Not hurting them much.

Easy to find reasons and ways to get 6 points and be on the outskirts of the race.

UPL started 2 games in October.

the coach and his goalie coach had 6k third on the depth chart

clearly they did not have a clue, but let's roll with the same coaches in 24-25

Levi coming into camp as a #1 lock and getting the cushy home starts set the tone.

The goalie debacle alone should have been enough to cost Granato and Adams their jobs. Normal organizations don’t behave this way.

Krebs best game as a Sabre. If anyone could finish he would've had about that many. Tarasov had a hell of a game.
- RhinoFan

And I think a game where were labeling "his best as a Sabre" and it's a 0/0/0 stat line sort of proves my point

I think they are on to something by moving one of Cozens/Tage to the wing.

Agreed on the above.

The big question is what do they do from this point forward?

If you believe in all of the players they've committed long term deals to (Tage, Cozens, Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, and perhaps soon to be Mittelstadt), you're at a crossroads, as you've committed near max term to a non-playoff roster, you're up against it from a cap perspective, and you'll likely need ELC type cheap deals to provide quality on ice support.

Problem is that could take another 2 seasons before that ELC support is really ready to be a strong support system for the long term committed players.

If you decide to trade a number of them for NHL ready quality supporting players starting this coming offseason, again, the cap limit will be your enemy.

I think they're going to need to part with one or two of their long term commitments to truly become a good team.

Seriously doubt that's going to happen.

LOL 🤣🤣

NHL Network did 5 hypothetical trades for Hanifin, Henrique, Tanev, Guentzel and Tarasenko.

Tage needs to go to the wing. He’s not a good center
