Kochetkov is a tad older of course and was picked in the 2nd round

if levi does what he is doing next year in the nhl, that will be impressive

right now Kochetkov on this season
2.46 gaa
.905 save percentage

he had similar numbers last season with a slightly better save percentage

of course he plays for the canes, a better team

- homiedclown

Where to play Levi next year is a big question. AHL is the safer route, for his development and the team. Whatever pressure they felt to make him an instant #1 should be over.

Preds have no issue giving Askarov a 2nd year in the AHL. Same with the Flames and Wolf.

portillo

2.54 gaa in ahl this season
.919 save percentage

pretty much same numbers as levi in rochester

- homiedclown

Sucks they don't have another prospect anywhere close. No upside in signing depth goalies every year.

Levi has been solid since being sent back down and was good in his last several starts in Buffalo too.

Only reason he’s on the farm is because it allows him to play more games. There is a long list of goaltenders who have played several starts this year that Levi has leaped already.

For a 21 year old kid, it’s impressive

- Swedish_Jesus

Yes he's down there to play games and because he belongs there and UPL took the reigns from him.

They fell out of the race before they figured it out. Was it worth sacrificing a season?

Yes, goaltending isn’t the number one reason we suck

It’s tage, cozen, krebs and power being ineffective

It's not today, but it did cost them valuable games early in the season.

I say #1 reason is Skinner, Tage, Tuch, and Dahlin. The guys on the ice when it counts. Secondary scoring has been their biggest strength, Primary their biggest weakness.

Not replacing Quinn
Olofsson
Girgensons
Okposo
I could go on

krebs?

he is the 4th line center

maybe it's former all star winger holding him back

either way he is perhaps the 15th biggest problem, at best on this roster

coach playing him up 2 or 3 lines is, but not his fault

This season is not going down as the bad goaltending cost them. Maybe a bit early?

Bad offensive
Bad coaching

Tage looks like a shell of last season

KA really had a nice encouraging offseason meal with upl , glad that’s working out to the Sabres advantage.

Krebs has 3 goals kiddo

He’s absolutely part of the problem this season
He regressed from being average

Yes we are lucky UPL turned it up a notch, could have been a complete disaster if he hadn't.

!
Kevyn must know the ultimate leader for a SC team is not on this roster yet, and the Core isn't ready to effectively lead. So rather than go and get one, he chose to bring back two with serious issues themselves.

He continues to ignore the reality and to pick his a$$ rather than going out to get one.

Had he realized the critical need he would then not needed to bring back Slo-old-poke

His playing g with two guys who use their ass, head and feet to score goals. Not sure why those 5w9 even carry sticks...balance and steering perhaps?

Interesting comparison there, using Nashville and Calgary.

Can you guess why both the teams above would slow play their star goaltending prospects compared to the Sabres?

When we look back at this season, it will be that they dug a hole too deep to get out of and never really got rolling.

Front office + coaching played a big role in digging that hole, goaltending decision was part of that. This is the kind of season that gets people fired, for most organizations.

boss stopped going to all the games so maybe he is just looking at the back of the hockey card these days

do we trust the coach who had glaring praises for krebs (see wgr link I posted) or the season ticket holder who is dumping his seats on stubhub instead of going to the games?

Seeing a lot of these Kappo linked to Sabres rumours.
Don’t hate it, but maybe 2nd or 3rd line?

Meathead will quickly switch Okposo back and put Krebs on the Larry line I’m sure. If Krebs doesn’t score in the first period meathead will be like, told you so, move him back to the 4th. In fact, I bet he does some really stupid line juggling today. Don’t count out a Tage stint on the Larry line from this arsehole

Krebs had 9 last year playing a similar role with similar linemates

Being a year more experienced, I guess I was hoping for more not less

Went to 7-0 vs la Tuesday
And 4-0 vs Florida on Thursday

Krebs and his 3 goals is part of why we suck, you can’t see that?

Another regular schmo

The team is full of players that look like regular schmo's this season.

Management decided to bring in regular schmo's in the offseason.

Hoping the result of this season, as admittedly a worst case scenario, is a learning moment for them.

No more excuses.

Time to start properly supporting the core players with actual, quality players.

That might mean losing some of their precious prospects, and players like Samuelsson.
