Yes for a 2nd this year, he also talked about using the assets for future picks and spreading out the flow of players.
I know some think he's too young and not that smart, I've never listened to him when I thought he was naive, dumb, or in over his head. - vabeachbear
I really like this line of forward thinking. Most GMs don’t seem to think long term like this. KD will try to build the team over a period of time, if he can push some picks out over several years he may have the luxury of moving player(s) who threaten the cap because he has a stockpile of prospects. I agree he seems very smart, he seems to be flexible in his thinking and I’m sure his plan will also be flexible. He has a long way to go to ice a championship team but from all I’ve seen he appears to be the guy who can do it. |

One guy that hasn’t proven himself in the NHL as of yet that I like is Holloway in Edmonton, but not sure what KD can offer to pry him away. - Angotti
Not necessarily advocating for this but a change of scenery kinda trade involving Holloway? A Reichel for Holloway?
A quick look at Holloway he has good fancies in the Bigs with a corsi of 59 this yr and 51 last with an Ozone start of 54%. ........ I'd guess any dump of Campbell's money Holloway has a good chance of being part of that package. https://www.hockeybuzz.co...forum_id=1"e=23249417

He specifically called the picks assets to be used in many different ways - vabeachbear
Exactly and the rub is we had no assets prior to KD taking over. It's like people don't understand what an organized rebuild looks like. |

No keep Reichel and get Holloway if KD wants him but let's not quit on kids.

If KD thinks Reichel is a bust that's one thing but i still think Reichel even with all his warts is playing better hockey then Kurashev was around the same amount of games played with less talent around him. |

Last couple of games it looks to me like Korchinski is getting better in the offensive end. Hope this continues |

Yeah, I don't get it. The guy has presided over exactly two drafts and the team's in the early stages of a rebuild.
Yet somehow people are attributing behavioral traits and tendencies to him like he's been in the chair for a decade or more. - HawkintheD
C'mon man, the guy's a known (frank) up. |

I’m not going to pretend I know what free agent the Hawks should sign, when the prospects should be brought up, or what anyone should be paid. Davidson has a plan non of us are privy to. I’m sure that plan has short and long term considerations and I’m sure he would move anyone, except Bedard, to improve the team. I’d like to see a gradual improvement until the prospects are ready but I don’t want to see an older player signed to a long term deal. - paulr
If they can just sign six guys in their 30's, the pain of some loooong suffering fans would finally dissipate, eh? |

Three of the top 10 scorers in the league are in their 30s. Not sure why you want to keep watching minor league fillers when there is the opportunity to go out and get talent. Tallon overpaid Campbell to turn things around and it past time for something like that here.

One or two guys in their early 30s on a very short term contract may be good but what decent player in his early 30s will be looking for that type of contract? They’re looking to cash in on a longer term deal and those traditionally are the contracts that get teams in trouble. |

It was Campbell who turned things around? Not Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, Seabs, Hammer, or Crow?

They are in year 2 of a rebuild. I think Davidson can go out and get some talent to augment the team’s youth without doling out a Campbell-like contract.
If memory serves 51 got something like 8mx8yrs which also made him one of the highest paid dmen.
Also, other than you saying so why is it “past time”? |

Tallon got Campbell when the team had their new superstars and a ton of talent NHL ready coming up. We aren't in that position yet, so why pay top UFA dollars now when the rebuild isn't finished? |

The thing is that this team is not ready for those type of additions, the Hawks won a couple of playoff rounds in 09. Also, what was the end result? They got into cap trouble in a hurry, and were lucky enough to come back and win two more cups. I’m willing to give KD the benefit of the doubt on his rebuild strategy. |

Some fans can't handle the wait; they'd rather be decent for a couple years. |

Talking about Connor Bedard so much, I'm guessing Crosby was his guy |
