If you guys watch Guentzel in the new mic’d up video you will probably be excited to get him off this team. What a little female dog. Haha.

Trade Smith and give the $$ to Jake.

Carter is coming off the books next year. Give Jake his money and make other moves in the off-season as needed. Not that hard

I really dont think its about money. I'd bet its more about term and Jake wanting to see where the team goes. He might not want to extend with a team that isnt going to compete very well.

He already has 2 cups. This will be his last nhl deal. Time to cash in big time.

Sounds good, but what if Jake wants to go somewhere with a better chance to compete? Because that's the real concern, not finding a way to pay him.

Fair enough. But if that's the case, ship him out sooner rather than later. No need to keep a guy around who's not committed.

Hockey News suggesting the Oilers trade Ceci, Broberg, 2024 1st & 2025 4th for Jake.

Not sure the Ceci part makes a lot of sense for either team as it creates a hole at RD for the Oilers and too many D for the Pens. I like the "return" for the Pens but it would need to come with other trades.

Isnt Broberg struggling? I could be confusing him with another Oilers prospect.

Would anyone consider Trevor Zegras? It could just be internet gossip, but I've seen Anaheim is looking for a 1st, prospect, and other minor piece for him. If you trade Jake for a similar package, would anyone take a run at a guy like Zegras?

Signed a few more years and has RFA control when his deal expires.

Looks like 11 forwards tonight. Neither Accairi or Harkins appears injured enough to go on LTIR as both are skating. This is where you'd love to have the cap space to field a full roster ..

But hey, maybe we finally see Carter with Sid.

By all reports, it sounds like Dubas wants Jake on a team friendly deal. Jake likely feels differently. Can't blame him. I imagine if Dubas made a "market" offer, Jake would have singed already. Cap is going up too, so I doubt Jake has any interest in home town discounts. Undoubtedly, Dubas has long term considerations in mind....which he should. I honestly don't have a problem with either side, but Dubas absolutely needs to move him if they don't come to an agreement.

Depends on how you define struggling. I think there was optimistic hope he would get to the NHL quickly and he hasn't. But he is 22 and having a great season in the AHL.

I think people in Edmonton expected him to be like a Hedman, Hanafin, Makar type of player who can just hop right into the league at 18/19. To me he projects more like a Pettersson but with more offence to his game. A middle pair defender for a long time.

Zero interest in Zegras for the Pens. If we were to do a deal with the Ducks though, I could totally see Karlsson being a guy they would want over picks/prospects. He is exactly what they need to turn the corner with their young group.

If it's working out like you said, I actually would have a problem with Dubas not giving Jake market value. You can't really let what your second or third best player leave over a contract dispute right now. Don't blame Jake at all. I realize other guys took less a couple years ago but that's their choice.

Jake’s been underpaid his whole career. I understand the same could be said about Crosby and Malkin but they signed mega deals at the time to set them up for their entire prime of their career. Jake’s never had that and this is his last chance to cash in. He’s not going to sign a team friendly contract for a non-contender.

Jake’s also not a Crosby or Malkin. Malkin not even a Crosby and Jake’s not a Malkin. I don’t see the big deal. Trade him up.

PP sucks the life out of this team every game. Don't think they had one serious scoring opportunity.

According to NaturalStatTrick they only generated 0.1 expected goal in 4 mins of PP time. It's almost impressive how bad that is.

Wasn’t it Christmas? Then all-star break? Now what? Trade deadline? lol so many passengers on this team that get free passes. Wasting another year of elite Crosby.
