Risto does suck and has for a long time.
Him and gudas would have the leafs short handed all the time.
The trades just arent good imo. I know you have to move willie for whatever, but thats a bad trade.
Im all for getting more physical guys but just not those moves - Fakepartofme
His roster sucks. Swapping talent for muscle is stupid.
You want guys with muscle AND talent. Risto ain't it. |

Reilly should get 5-10 games for head-hunting.
A pathetic and cowardly hit. Enjoy the golf course in April. - Marwood
All you bandwagon Canucks fans coming out of hiding is hilarious. And you’d know all about cowardly and pathetic (lapierre, burrows, bertuzzi etc) |

Risto at like 2.5-3M would actually be pretty good.
The contract would age well with the cap going up.
Just don't think Philly would retain that much. |

Slapshot kid was a Richard.
Rielly showed him how much of a Richard he was.
Rielly will get suspended.
Some people will say too much.
Some people will say too little.
The end.
The rest of the game:
Leafs played like losers for at least 40mins.
JT should be traded...can't stand him, his cap hit or his constant give aways.
Keefe should be fired.
Tree better get to work.
Thankfully the game ended with some heart.
Captain should be Matthews or Rielly.
The end, end. |

hes gonna get 6 - drexel
If so, then the only takeaway for me is he should have hit him way (frank)ing harder like Perron did. |

When Spezza got six, Parros set the bar for Leaf suspensions. Rielly gets 5-6 with this DoPS. They are inconsistent in the punishments, but they consistently over-suspend Leaf players.

Probably. The Perron incident is a lot more violent IMO. But, it is what it is ...
For the Leafs the message should be 1. it's us against the world, rally time ...lets use this to galvanize; and 2. if you're going to be violent ...be really (frank)ing violent. |

For those applauding Reilly for what he did, what would your reaction be had Matthews been the one who took the slapper and got cross checked in the head?
For the record, as a Flyers fan, I wanted Gudas and Boulerice suspended for life for what they did the Kessler and Perrault. You don't go after a player's head with your stick because you're mad. - jmatchett383
There was zero chance what Rielly did would cause any serious injury. It was a push with his stick high to his shoulder that road up and mostly got the helmet. You could call it a very light crosscheck I guess that caused zero injury. I agree he should not have involved his stick at all and should have just punched him. But unfortunately most of the Leafs players don't know how to fight, so they end up using their sticks to retaliate. This is what happens when the team is made up of mostly soft players.
Rielly should get a fine or maybe one or 2 games from what we have seen going on in the NHL lately. But of course the Hab Parros will give an unreasonable amount of games like he has always done with Leaf players. |

Are you saying Grieg nailed a twofer? He gets Reilly suspended and Keefe fired on the same night. - spatso
Sens fans would try to claim some sort of win if that did happen
Grieg got absolutely dummied in front of the entire world, and none of his teammates stuck up for him in the media.
This is a massive L for you guys.
Rielly gets some rest before the playoffs stretch, and the Leafs can try out some different players while he’s out.
I hope he gets 10 games. |

For me its never too late to change the coach. Hell LA did it just a week ago. Gallant or Berube for me though havecwanted Gallant from offseason. Strong structure, tries to make a team identity, and good with players but tough too.
After that fix goaltending. Dont have any trust or faith in him. Would try to do a swap with the Wild and grab Fleury to go with Jones. Let Woll get back then address who will be backup.
D Id take Gudas. Wouldnt mind that physical snarl with experience back there. Maybe you move Brodie and add Tanev still too.
After that maybe try to get a center for third line. - Roadrunner75
Perfect timing to change coach actually. Like the passion Keefe is showing lately but it seems he is unable to pass that onto some of the players! It’s just not in them. That’s why, with 4 of the top 9 paid players, we are barely a playoff team. Other teams love playing in Toronto…….until that stops, this will be a mediocre team. Love the way McCabe and Benoit are bringing it, and now players know Reilly can snap, that helps.

I don’t agree with 99% of the “hockey code”, but my opinion is irrelevant.
You don’t disrespect your opponent by pulling poop like this.
So Rielly was 100% justified in hitting him.
The crosschecck to the face, however, was completely unjustified, and he will deserve a suspension.
6-10 games will be too much, but that’s what you get for being stupid.

Agree, the Marchment hit on McCabe was 10x worse - he got a $5K fine and no penalty during the game - because reasons. Kadri was twice suspended for hits for several playoff games for hits where the opponent did not miss a shift. Liljegren was slew footed this year by Marchand who is a repeat offender. Liljegren missed several weeks with a high ankle sprain yet there no call nor suspension. It is sickening but it's reality.

This is a bullpoop mentality.
Its like getting a $10000 ticket for going 10km over the speed limit and saying "shouldn't have broken the law."
Fans and teams have every right to call out unjustified punishments handed out by the league/DoPS.
And I'm certain this will be one of those times.
