Good or bad based on draft position value or trade value

5pts in 6 AHL games says otherwise.
- QuinnFan

Washed has unreasonable expectations for the timeline of NHL Draft selections. It is apparent that the believes all 1sts are the same, that the NHL Prospects are like the NFL Prospects even though there is ~5 years of difference in age when selected, and development is the same for all positions.
All the evidence in the world points a different way, yet here we are.

Injured in NHL training camp...the NHL is all that matters.

Agreed, we should just surrender our picks...not a single NHL player amongst them.

Am I doing this right?

Time will tell but think he may surprise.

Just wanted to agree but say it louder for the folks in back

Currently one 1st round pick of 7 is in the NHL...producing 1 point since Christmas.

Everyone defending these small perimeter style playing prospects is what is keeping Adams in the GM seat.

The Sabres send a retard up on stage to make their picks...so I don't believe we will see a material difference if they do surrender the picks.

I think it's half way in between with Savoie. He did have some injury set backs that have caused his development to slow. Most of the top10 have played NHL games now where he's still in juniors (yes the CHL rule is hurting him) but he hasn't earned NHL time either.

However, you aren't wrong in that these kids do take time. Having Poitras, a 2nd rounder, be the only forward drafted behind him to play more than 9 games is telling.

The bigger issue isn’t taking guys with high end skill, that are on the smaller side. One has to hit big, or it’ll be a failure there. Having 6 of roughly the same is what it is. That said, Benson looks like a hit and still plenty of time for him. The actual issue is taking Leinonen with Warren, Casey, Luneau, or Hutson still on the board. All big, all mobile, all play the right side. Add one of them to our pool instead of a goalie that may or may not help in 7 years is the bigger disappointment. (I am on the take a goalie every year team, and it’s fine to take one early if you feel you need one. Buffalo with UPL and Levi at the time didn’t need to do that. For example, love the Ratzlaff pick, similar upside to Leinonen, but in the 5th)

Funny, I was going to ask if anyone saw the same:

After his goal, I thought he got the jump back in his step. I wonder if going from being a 2pt per game CHL player to a .2ppg NHL player was hitting his confidence a bit. He had a great game against LA.

That Leinonen pick is haunting for sure. I'm with you on the goalie drafting as well. Gotta keep the pipeline stocked because you just never know if your starter is going to fall off a cliff.

Every time he has an opportunity, he gets hurt. It's definitely concerning.

I'm not sure I want either tbh...and not giving up Savoie either. If I was forced, it would be an offer for less...Cliffy and a 2025 3rd.

Kid plays a warrior's game, he's going to take some licks, but that's why it's smart not to rush him. I'm absolutely fine with him dominating the AHL next year and learning to protect himself. The further away from that shoulder injury he gets the better.
