A quick Google search tells me that the population is about 50,000 in a 9 square mile area. Could be a long commute for anyone hoping to attend.
Time to just end the Arizona experiment, as you say, an embarrassment to the league.

Looks even further away than Glendale. And as Reubs pointed out has a low population in the area. Walsh also said this about any new land deal:

As far as I’m concerned, that’s unacceptable on behalf of the players on that team and it should be unacceptable for the league.”

#Flames update: CGY recently made a big pitch, rolled out the red carpet ($) to try to re-sign C Elias Lindholm.

CGY is waiting on a response from Lindholm and haven't been given definitive answer yet. But general league speculation is he's leaning toward not re-signing w/ CGY.

This can't be right. I read on HB that Petey doesn't play Center.

Some simple math tells me that the Arizona franchise is costing the league approximately 68 million per year. Using the 50-50 split of hockey related revenue, that would mean the players are being screwed out of 34 million, just so the league can have a team in a desert.

Using simple figures like attendance, which is currently around 4600, in a league that just about every team brings in at least 15 000, means Arizona is over 10 000 short in those numbers, multiplied by 41 home games, then multiplied by 168, which according to a couple sites, was the average ticket price, 2 seasons ago, making for a total close to $70 million.

Time for the league to stop the nonsense
