not just here, but I saw it all over, the people who say we always screw up our first round picks are afraid of trading a first round pick

- jimbro83

I will never understand it.

What are we going to do when we don’t have a top 10 player in the league? (Panarin)

I hope you're right. I think it's not the right time to deal Kakko. But, as some have said, Drury might be feeling the heat to try and pull something off.
But, Laffy is driving play as much as Bread or Trocheck most nights. He needs to get back the scoring touch he had in Juniors, but the rest seems to be coming on now. Not a chance he gets moved.

I dont agree, he's an RFA after season, what the hell do they sign him to if he's still here?

Rangers also got Mikkola in that deal
- jimbro83

Tarasenko has a full no trade clause so he has full
Control over where he goes. It bodes well for the rangers since it was reported he wanted to stay. If the rangers want him they will get him. All depends on Drury and his needs

I had a thought he may insist on a contract extension to waive the NTC this time

he may not want that situation again next summer where he had trouble finding a suitor

I’ve been sayin this all year. This is why he’ll probably get traded

Side note: When you realize Oreilly only gets 900k more then Goodrow does it makes you slam your head into stuff, and the other guy has a trade clause

Sign him cheap. People always assume that every new contract has to be comparable to every other by draft year and position. If he hasn't earned a raise, why do we worry about what it will cost?
All I'm saying is that it would be a mistake to trade him for another question mark. If that's the deal, hold on to him, sign him to a team friendly deal and try to help him achieve more. If they can truly improve to where his potential might be, I'm willing.

2 years is the same amount of time Panarin would have…so you do two years 10 mill, maybe less? Full NTC and we cook for two years

well they have to qualify him or they'll lose his RFA rights and he'd become a UFA

If we continue playing .500 for the next 10 games after the break, how can we realistically say it's a good idea for Drury to bet on us figuring it out all the sudden in time for the playoffs, and trade assets to add at the TDL? That will have been 3 straight months of being a .500 hockey club, after 6-7 weeks of being a "hot start with a fresh voice" hockey club.

because the reason they will be playing .500 hockey is that they need another player or two

That’s the wild thing. For how bad the rangers have been in the last 25 games they are still in first. It shows how vulnerable and weak the metro is. Should give more motivation to go for it

I guess that's the hope. I don't think we're going anywhere regardless, but will be happy if proven wrong

it we get first seed in Metro I don't think its crazy to think we'd win the first round, and then as we all know with the playoffs, they take on a life of their own

Ya with the mentality that in today's nhl with the tight cap and max parity it truly is like buying a 1/16 lotto ticket, I can see Drury spending at the deadline I suppose. It just seems like it would be counterintuitive to spend big if we don't play at least over .500 hockey the month of Feb.

Tarasenko isn’t going to cost much tho. Remember last year? We were stunned at what we got him for

Conditional second. 4th and Skinner. So it wouldnt be even be that much a year later, older. And full NTC so he can say nope ain’t going there and hand pick the rangers, which I think he’d do

Grow a pair of balls Brukie

Its not about having balls, its about using your brain, which you dont, you are way to impulsive. This team as it is playing now, isnt a contender on any level and trading away picks and prospects again to fill glaring holes isnt going to win a Cup.

Id trade for Tarasenko again, but does he want to comeback here is the question.

I think there are about 6 teams in the West easily better than the Rangers, but I don't worry about the finals until they happen, they'll beat each other to a pulp out there in those first 3 rounds

Coincidentally, a ROR - Kakko trade gives us juuuuuuust enough space to get Tarasenko at 50% too. One thing that could suck is Wheeler is probably the 3RW

Don't forget, we got to the ECF and were up 2-0 in the series - so there's always that one run!
