Wow that’s pretty impressive.

Also top-5 in giveaways, but that's the nature of being a player who has the puck more often than a lot of other guys. A lot of the guys in the top 10 in takeaways also are in the top 10 in giveaways.

Trade Barzal. He is not a top line player.

Yep. I have no expectations of him being Bergeron but his game is still a work in progress which is great.

How do you feel about Roy being hired?

I don't know much about his coaching style/systems but I like that he's a passionate guy and seems to have learned from his mistakes in Colorado.

I don't have a strong opinion either way yet but I'm happy with the hire from everything I've heard him say and that I've been able to read, etc... Seems like the media is relatively supportive of the hire as well. Our seats are pretty close to the Isles bench and you could see/hear how vocal and involved he was in the first period or two. Just yelling out adjustments and whatnot all shift, every shift. You could hear him over all the crowd noise.

Can you see Roy eventually taking over as GM?

I don't think so, Simon Gagne is/was his GM in the QMJHL and I'm not sure how much, if any, management experience he's had.

The Islanders would never hire a former goaltender with no management experience as a GM

Curious if Roy is just adding this guy into the mix or one of Houda/MacLean is out

It looks liked adding to the mix in one article I saw.

I feel the Islanders are not a very good hockey team. Hopefully the coaching change will at least temporarily motivate them and we get to watch competitive hockey in the spring.

Pretty sure Lou said the assistants would stay. Maybe it changed but I’m fairly certain I read that somewhere…

I was out all day/night Saturday and busy yesterday before going last night so I didn't get to do a whole lot of reading prior to the game, probably missed that part

You will like him, defense first and detailed in his game, wants them to be aggressive on the puck. Barzal with a slight shot at lane here

We have seats on the other side of the Arena from the Isles bench and we heard him screaming last night.

Yeah I'm on board with everything I've been able to catch up on so far, I like the hire. I didn't want Berube and I probably would have been happy with Evason or Woodcroft but this was a good surprise.

Only time will tell if Lambert was the problem or if the personnel are. Although I don't need time to tell me how atrocious Mayfield is.

His passes to Nelson and Fasching were absolutely world class. Both should have been easy goals.

He had a couple of fantastic passes that weren't put in last night. There was at least one more to Barzal that he couldn't one-time but had a wide open net.

Mayfield got used last night but he's really a bottom 6 guy playing more than he should with injuries.
