Yeah I mean looking back now it was a pile of crap. I said a day or two ago that I used to be pretty high on Pokka, he just never panned out anywhere.
- eichiefs9

Yeah I thought he showed some real promise. Was a pretty heavy defenseman with us.

Haha I thought Pelech was terrible and would amount to nothing and loved Pokka when he started playing. 😂

To be fair Pelech was kind of terrible for a while.

Barry really helped Pelech along with the other dmen.

I think the Islanders should be open to moving Nelson. Nelson will be 33 in October. Team is going to have to do some sort of retool/rebuild.
- ses111

I would love if they did a retool but I think we’re fooling ourselves thinking there’s a chance that’s going to happen. That’s not how Lou operates. He’ll keep adding to this lineup anyway he can but there will be little to no focus on doing anything close to a rebuild.

Pelech kind of came into his own before Trotz but he certainly helped. Pulock also.

I do not remember Pelech coming into his own before Barry. I try to forget those times.

If Lou stays, I would hope he brings in Roy type Players.

Are we talking about the same guy? Pokka never played an NHL game for anyone.

Have to wonder if Houda will move elsewhere soon

It's hard to say whether he helped them personally or if the system simply masked their deficiencies. If he had really developed them so much individually, you wouldn't expect to have such a massive drop-off for everyone since his departure. Did they all suddenly forget how to play?

I think it was Barry's system. Really helped the defense but hurt the overall offense. I like that Patrick seems to understand you need a good enough offense and cannot win every game 2-1.

His game was so heavy that the weight of his presence dragged the entire team down

Although in fairness, the team in those days didn't require much to drag it down.

This seems to cover all the potential scenarios

What this Gauthier move tells me is that:

A: Gauthier's game didn't fit Roy's game.
B: Opens roster spot for an injured player to return.
C: Maybe Roy liked a player in Bridgeport.

Move will give #Isles just under $5 million in cap space.

Expecting him to be claimed.

Maybe they want to give a shot to Iskhakov? Who knows. Or Lou has another trade up his sleeve.

I’m good with an Iskhakov call up. Please no trading another #1 pick.
