Unreal that they both got close to max deals on term. Barzal and horvat yes, Dobson yes lock them in but a borderline top 6 guy and bottom pair d no

I’m done talking about the wussy, but how do you give a 30-plus-old defensemen a 7-year contract? Who was Lou negotiating against?

And what happens if Wahlstrom doesn’t get a point Saturday night? He’s back up in the press box? Yet, guys like Engvall, Mayfield, Martin etc just play through their rather egregious mistakes? It’s a bunch of bullpoop and I’ll root for Wahlstrom wherever he ends up. He has one thing on this team barely anyone else has, will to score. And, yeah, you can’t just plug him in here and there and expect him to prosper.
- potvin05

Agreed. By all accounts Wahlstrom doesn’t look good up to this point but with the factors we both mentioned I think Roy should give him a few games to at least try and put it together. It’s not like our other options are lighting it up.

What does he have to lose? Some horrible turn overs or penalties at the worst times? We got that covered already.

It should be simple. Lou has done this at the end in NJ and with the Leafs. He is just bad in a Cap world.

What a brutal loss last night. That is up there with the devils and preds last second losses. Engvall has been awful for most of the year and that's his second egregious turnover that's lead to a goal. 7 years of that? He better pick it up but this is why you don't give a 3rd liner (on a real team) that kind of deal
- Upstate_isles

The problem is there have been multiple brutal losses and that number continues to grow. Roy needs some time. We were all hoping for an immediate response but like I’ve been preaching for the last few years the problem(s) are not just the coach.

They have looked inspired the last 3 games but the turnovers are killing them. 2 vs Vegas and the last one last night. Bolduc not using his body on a guy half his size was infuriating as well. I think it was one of the guys on chicklets that made fun of the Engvall deal when it was announced. Said 7 years for a guy that skates it over the blueline and button hooks or dumps it in

😂
Yeah never understood that deal. Spreading it over 7 years to bring down the aav is laughable. The guy wasn’t worth that number to begin with even with a slight raise. The easy answer is you say thank you for your services and move on.

So this one may not go over well, but for a guy who scores a lot, Brock is a pretty lackadaisical player. He's still one of the few I'd keep around, but he had a chance to eliminate Monahan on that game winner last night and just glided about 3 feet behind him. There's a lot of times where it seems to me he gives up on plays early.

I remember a few of us were saying he could get $3.5-$4m and he wasn't worth that. Naturally he settled for three since it got spread over 7 frickin' years. He brings nothing. The only thing he's good for is fetching pucks. Can't check, can't shoot, can't stick handle, can't pass. I don’t see a ton of difference between him and Gauthier

This is a soft team overall. You really notice it with the dmen.

Which if course means no more than five games. Gallagher has been in the league for 12 years without a suspension, so I guess that may play into their forgiveness.
Naturally this won't feel like the punishment meets the crime

These suspensions are never correct. If a guy is out a month due to the injury then whats 2 or 3 games? Guy hurt from a head shot should be a minimum 10 games

I can live with that when it's a bang-bang play that results in a dirty hit, but there was absolutely no excuse other than intent to injure for what Gallagher did last night. Puck was long gone and he jumped to raise his elbow up into Pelech's head when he wasn't looking. A gutless play from a guy who looks and plays like a strung out truck stop whore

It's hard not to like Brock who leads the team in goals and is 4th in points, even if he mostly shies away from physical play. But his -12 plus/minus is tied for 3rd worst on the team. He doesn't seem to play with much heart when he's not on offense.

Gauthier plays a more physical game, thereby jumping over one of the lowest bars imaginable.

Yep. They certainly can't afford to lose a guy who drops 35 goals per season. I've always thought he was kind of lackadaisical in pursuing plays 'within reach'. (FTR: he was a standout a couple of nights ago, in terms of effort). But even in the o-zone you seem him stand-up rather than bear down when players are just out of his reach. I didn't find his level effort on the gwg satisfactory

The stadium series jersey kinda.....sucks.
What marketing genius decided to use a Mayfield jersey for the promo? (yes, I know it's for 2024)
https://twitter.com/NYIsl...JLLeVyVcdxFkrELrwXbw&s=19

To make matters worse, the jersey won't ship until 3/15, meaning that fans won't have them in time for the actual game!!!!
