Maybe it’s the players after all. I love Roy’s passion but it may not be enough.

Lane was lousy, but it was not all Lane. Bad roster decisions have hurt this team.

Well I’m sure Wally gets a look next game. Engvall certainly didn’t endear himself to Roy with that game!

I was wrong about Engvall. He is worse than Bailey. 1 point in last 17 or 18 games. He sucks.

Gotta give Roy and the players a good 10 games to get familiar with one another. That said, I think we all knew there were plenty more problems than just Lane.
I also have to think a guy like Houda, who works with the dmen and PK should be out on a rail, since those have been the biggest disappointments this season.

I Agree that more time is needed.
They have had no puck luck at all since he’s been here.
Shots on goal 46 for and not against which is a step in the right directions.
The bad penalties killing the momentum and then the TO’s just have to stop.

Well 7 days is too long if he plays like that!

I don’t think Roy puts him in next game. That’s the difference.

I never understood the logic in signing the wussy in the first place, I definitely didn’t understand the logic in 7 years.

He’s not a top-6 guy because he isn’t good enough. He’s not a bottom-6 guy because he’s allergic to hustling and checking.

When you’re auditioning Wahlstrom, signing guys like Fasching AND Gauthier, and have guys coming up like Ishakov, Maggio, Dufour, etc…what’s the point of signing this guy?

Only 6 1/2 more years. Let's not make it worse than it is.

You sign guys like Gauthier for a year or use the Bridge players, if possible, instead of signing mediocre talent to lousy deals.

I don't think 10 is enough to be fair. The all-star break may help, but 2+ weeks seems to me to be too quick to judge.

Or, craziest, play Wahlstrom. I know he’s had his own “moments” but he’s coming off a major injury (meaning it’s gonna take some playing time to get him in any kind of form) and he’s got an excellent shot. They’re gonna get nothing in return for him, for some dumb reason I see Todd Bertuzzi part deux with him.

Wally or Bolduc may or may not make it, but it is very difficult without consistent playing time. We can mostly blame the young players on the Islanders that have not made it, but the team has to take responsibility as well. Dobson is obviously a special player, but the Islanders have to do a better job of identifying and developing young talent. For the Islanders to become a consistently good team, they are going to have to figure out how to develop homegrown players.

First and foremost, the Islanders have to start playing better below the dots. Especially between the crease and the dots. They're not physical enough in that area, which keeps leading to them getting outmuscled for pucks in the corner and rebounds in front of the net. Their positioning and communication has been awful for over two years now. Then on the PK, apparently by design, they completely forfeit the crease to our opponents. It's just a terrible design.

I don't have top much of a problem with our offensive play. Nitpicking maybe I'd say we lack a big body who can dominate for rebounds and tips (Anders just isn't that guy now). We also have a tendency to thread too many pucks throw high traffic. Oh...and we miss a shi+ ton of shots.
There's a lot of time left, but they better figure it out sooner than later. Time's ticking...

What a brutal loss last night. That is up there with the devils and preds last second losses. Engvall has been awful for most of the year and that's his second egregious turnover that's lead to a goal. 7 years of that? He better pick it up but this is why you don't give a 3rd liner (on a real team) that kind of deal

Im not sure if Wahlstrom will amount to anything but yep. Said the same thing multiple times. Not easy for anyone to come back from an injury like that. I’ve gotten flamed multiple times on here for saying that. For him to have any chance to get back into form he has to play. One game back to teach Engvall a lesson amounts to nothing for the kid. Maybe he falls flat on his face but it’s a given what we’re getting from Engvall at this point with Wahlstrom there being an albeit maybe small chance for contributing. It’s something and after last night Engvall shouldn’t see the ice for multiple games.

Never understood the Engvall contract among others. That kind of term should be reserved for players who bring a bit more to the table imo.

Or a bottom pairing d man in Mayfield. It will be 2031 and those two coksuckers will still be under contract.

Unreal that they both got close to max deals on term. Barzal and horvat yes, Dobson yes lock them in but a borderline top 6 guy and bottom pair d no

And what happens if Wahlstrom doesn’t get a point Saturday night? He’s back up in the press box? Yet, guys like Engvall, Mayfield, Martin etc just play through their rather egregious mistakes? It’s a bunch of bullpoop and I’ll root for Wahlstrom wherever he ends up. He has one thing on this team barely anyone else has, will to score. And, yeah, you can’t just plug him in here and there and expect him to prosper.
