Does a lower win percentage count when it actually matters at the end of 82 games?
- manvanfan

Hypothetical...I'm talking about today. You always like to spin things into something other than what people talk about because you love to win. Your competitive nature is admirable and outstanding.

They both are. It's kind of a prerequisite around here.

Are you saying you would prefer if I had the same perspective as you, even if your perspective is stupid.... like it usually is. Sounds more like a you problem than a me problem.

That would be glorious, now if only McDiva would go down long term then I could truly be at hockey peace.

Are the Jets better than the Canucks? I see Yzerman's Red Wings are now ahead of Toronto in the East and in a top three spot. Maybe all those critics were wrong last summer?
- Pacificgem

I stated three things, regarding the Red Wings...the first two are just undisputable facts as of today, there's nothing to debate and there's no perspective involved, the third one is a question, again, there's no perspective involved, it's just an opinion based question....your move.

1) The Wings are now ahead of the Leafs in the standings.
2) The Wings are now in a top three spot in their division.
3) Maybe people were wrong about what Yzerman was doing last summer.

I would rather try to pry Eriksson Ek out of Minny and overpay for it with picks, than trade for Guentzel and pony up $$ for his next contract.
- NewYorkNuck

Why? Why on Earth would they trade their top Center with a cheap 5 year contract? They aren’t rebuilding and even if they do a “retool” he is part of the solution not the problem. They would want EP in return

News flash. The Canucks are now considered a contender.

The trade talk is what will put them over the top.

- Quinn's Quest

What is greater than a contender? Should they just hand them the cup?

The curious case that is the Arizona Coyotes...

The Yotes have taken down a few good teams and they've made a few other ones compete hard to beat them. They've made huge strides this year, they had 28 wins all of last year, they already have 21 this year.

So you want to discuss a point, you just aren't willing to see another other perspective?
1) as of today, the Leafs have a higher win percentage.
2) Playoffs don't start after 44 games, they start after 82 and the team with the higher win percentage would get in.
3) I never gave you an answer to "Yzerman's critics" because I wasn't sure who you were talking about. At this point in time, they are pretty well exactly where I figured they would be. A bubble team, that has some bad contracts.

Trades happen. He's not untouchable. Plans change. Who the hell knows, this is a site to shoot the poop about hockey, it's not Reuters. Not saying it's likely, I'd just rather they target someone like that than pay for Guenzel, who will cost a lot to acquire and then cost even more to keep.

Being greater than the other contenders. There are about 8 now. That’s the improvement they are looking to do by trade.
