I would also be ok with shopping Wotherspoon if he can fetch something at the deadline. He has been playing pretty good. Wouldn't trade him unless its going to fetch an overpayment.

Lohrei has been learning very quickly. I know he will likely get sent down once the blueline gets healthy, but he has shown great improvement. He will be a full timer nexxt year for sure.

Given the choice, I would move Mitchel (package with Gryz?) before Wotherspoon. Wotherspoon has at least a little snarl to his game as well and can play both sides...perfect 7th.

Just thinking value wise. If I were to keep one of Gryz, Mitchell or Wotherspoon, it would be Wotherspoon.

That said, if someone is going to throw a 3rd rounder our way or a decent prospect for Wotherspoon, I would probably do it. Big if though.

no need to panic, if you told me they'd be in first place after 40 games I would have laughed at you. Let the kids make mistakes and learn. Like to see Bussi get a game in too, If they get home ice thats huge, but really, just make the playoffs.

Definitely dont need to panic. They are in decent shape at the moment.

But if someone wants to overpay for a 7th D man, who am I to say no.

they have to move money to make a trade, Gryz is the obvious candidate for many reasons, but with DeBrusk a UFA next season too, he should be in the mix.

It's sad DeBrusk has no extra gear, even in a contract year. I guess what we are seeing is what we can expect going forward.

Not sure what he could fetch the way he is playing. It's a toss-up to keep him for playoffs and let him walk for nothing, or package him for help now. Depends on what other teams are offering I guess.

It is true. He has a ton of skill and speed and can be a very effective player but he is missing that drive/compete to be the player he could be. He is equipped to be a solid two way 60 point player but gets in his own way.

JD has 20 points and is a +11. I see the Debrusk hate has surfaced again.

20 pts in 42 games - trending on ~ 40 pts for the year.
9th in scoring on the team behind Frederick and Geekie.
In a contract season.

You don't see that as a cause for concern?

Since when was 40 points a high water mark?
Heinen is +11... shall we celebrate that too?

Yes, obviously scoring is the only thing that matters...

Oh and both shootout wins we have, JD scored in the shootout.

its not hate, its just why not try and recoup something for him in a contract year, I dont see them resigning him. He's a very replaceable player, sure, he's become more of a 2 way player, but he is nothing special.

100% agree on DeBrusk. If there is a potential upgrade out there, send him.

We should however celebrate +11 on Heinen. I thought he would be gone by now. Pleasantly surprised.

If JD is going to stay as a 40 point 2 way player, then he deserves about as much money on an extension as he got on his last one. 4-4.5m per. Middle six utilization.

Problem for JD is, they have others who are on pace for the same amount of points and play just as well defensively. He has made himself expendable because both Geekie and Frederic have stepped up their game and have shown more consistency.

Heinen is even close to JD's production. That should make a statement right there about effort. (pleasantly surprised by Heinen's effort btw).

At this point im not on the JD hate train, but as with a couple of others, he could easily be a part of a trade that brings in some scoring help or a second line center if Sweeney can manage it.

Bruins can't have all their scoring concentrated in 2 or 3 players so JD needs to contribute more on that end.

Plenty of 40-point players out there who make < $4M.
He's totally replaceable.

Heinen has been nothing but solid and it doesn’t matter who he’s playing with. Absolute steal at his price.

honestly he should fire his agent, unless the only place he wanted to play was Boston.

Agreed. I thought the same thing when he had to sign a PTO. He and Evan Rodriguez are very similar in skill set and production and he just signed a 12m deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Heinen got an extension in the 2.5-3.5m range after this season. Maybe 2 years?
