Buffalo News Headline this morning:

"Alex Tuch's leadership earned the Sabres winger the 'honor' of alternate captain"

lol

That's like working your way up to assistant manager at a store scheduled to close next month.

Cozens had 7pts in his first 11 games, he wasn't failing miserably. And Tage has a history of starting off years slower, he had no goals in his first 7 games last year and still made 94. Tuch is injured and playing injured...

It's a bottom line business, right?

Many players play a portion of the season hurt, or even injured, and they still need to produce.

Total failure of management to not have enough quality players to still produce winning hockey when players are either out of the lineup injured or playing hurt.

Agreed there. The big issue is blaming players for lower production when they're battling injuries. As I've said and agree, we have no depth. We're the youngest team in the league and have to stay healthy to compete. Yes, players around the league get injured, but we've had a lot of injuries to our best and several are still dealing with injuries. Not one player in our top6 has stayed healthy this year outside Petey.

The players deserve some blame for not playing up to expectations despite the injury issues.

They don't get totally absolved of blame.

But I can't go crazy with blame on the players when the coaching and overall organization management is as inept as it is.

That's fair. Dahlin, to me, looks lazy right now. Him and Power look unenthused and soft most nights. Their lack of development pales in comparison to the forwards or guys battling injury IMO. They deserve quite a bit of the player blame here, even though I think structure is making their lives hell.

Conversely, Tuch is at a 70pt clip despite the injury...I'm not sure absolution is in order, at least in his case.

Sounds like it's going to here this year, the team doesn't seem motivated and that's a death sentence.

I do think the solution is much easier than some are claiming. We need a couple defenders who can actually play defense. We need coaching help, especially on the PP. And we need a new 4th line, with some guys who can play PK...having Tage, Tuch and Quinn rotating on that unit is a waste of strides. This is fixable and quickly. With all these picks, prospects and some good roster players to use, we could see this turn around with the right GM.

How many NHL teams have had more turnover than the Sabres in the past decade?

Could have done a bunch of this in the offseason, but it didn't fit the plan. It was actually a pretty decent offseason to have filled a lot of that on Ice stuff. Maybe the Season doesn't go so Sh!tty.

Do you mean management or players? I'd assume players wise there are some that rival us, management wise, we're probably at the tippy top.

I still think Gerbe was right, they talked a big game as all coaches/GMs do, but they had no intention of winning this year.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.

Little did they know their fan base is at breaking point and seemingly so is the team.

Both. I was just curious.

I think the time for adding those pieces has come and gone. The current players will want out after this season, a new front office will take 2 seasons to build their own culture...this is purgatory for the Sabres now thanks to Adams stubbornness.

What do you think? Are we the fastest revolving door around?

Only players who aren't under contract can do this. From Tage to Tuch to Dahlin, if anyone wants out, terminate your own contract. There should be absolutely no remorse at this point having been swindled by guys like RoR and Eichel.

Quinn man you have got to stop talking.

We have no depth yet everyone on here is screaming to call up all our “prospects”, we had to waive Jost and Bryson (depth)…

Your mouth is liquid sh¡t.

On what team would Jost and Bryson be considered depth rather than AHL players?

The answer is none. We waived both and they weren't picked up. Nobody wants our depth as theirs is considerably better.

Players wise, FL has only four players left on the roster who were there when Zito took over in 2020. Barkov, Ekblad, Bob, and Luostarainen.
I remember Tallon saying how his plan was to have the majority of their roster consist of players who the Panthers had drafted and developed. He was too attached to players he had drafted (for example, he could’ve had McDonagh when Rangers traded him, but he wouldn’t give up his prized prospect Borgstrom. McD winds up contributing to Cup wins in TB...).
Zito has no such hangup.

They had to do that a month ago and didn’t and I agree, now they have to poop or get off the pot.

Those are the same thing. That’s literally why the AHL exists at this point. Depth and prospect rosters.

It was one of the better off seasons I can remember for good and decent players going for cheaper than expected. Next year is not looking nearly as good and with the Cap increase, that means higher pay for average players too

So what is it, do we have depth or does it suck?

See, you have no idea what you’re talking about. You contradict yourself in the same damn sentence.

Give it a rest. You only make yourself look suspect.

This last UFA class was the worst in the history of the sport lol.

The ways to improve the team were in the trade market and he didn’t pull the trigger.

Now is a better time then never though

It’s 2018/2019 all over again.

This time, don’t blow up your core and instead support the core with more talent and replace the janokes behind the bench.

Don’t need to see Dahlin, Power, Tage, etc all playing in the conference finals next year
