Its pretty funny, Skinner used to be a whipping boy the first few years when he was scoring like 17 OT GWG's. I was one of the few to defend him.

Now everyone's moved onto Cozens and Dahlin


The guy is not free of criticism cause he scored 40 goals that one season

Cozens has played like the whole team, inconsistent. The thing is hes not even 23. And up until Quinn came back he was bounced around the lineup. So yeah, he gets the benefit.

Just off the top of my head, didn't all these guys do just that since Skinner signed:

Buchnevich
Kreider
Guentzel
Mangiapane

I'm sure there's more but Skinner is a 6-7M player tops. Personally, I would much rather invest that type of money on a 200ft forward than a one zone guy like Jeff but c'est la vie.

Again though, there aren't any forwards, besides Jamie Benn, who are making his type of money and aren't significantly better players overall. So the proof is in the puddin on this one.

I believe Ovi, Crosby, Stamkos and Benn are the only ones who signed their deals earlier than Skinner in 2019. And none of the newer ones were off of ELCs, outside Makar, unless I'm misremembering here, so almost all of them were within a couple years of UFA or closer.
