Its all potential, but they are certainly talented at their current levels

Its the only thing adams has done well here besides hitting a home run on tages contract, despite his struggles this year. Maybe cozens and power will be home runs too but that is a big TBD yet

There's not to many that shouldn't be used as Trade Bait
- Buff36

A good GM and scouting department should know exactly who not to use as trade bait.

As an example, if Ostlund is going to be Timmy Connolly, you keep him and wait. There isn't much debate there unless a truly magnificent deal falls in your lap.

I don't necessarily think he's the guy, but just opening the prospect cupboards is how you get roasted. I don't want to see us to make a Forsberg for Erat trade.

Disagreed. The prospects are plenty talented at their current level. The onus is on the GM to use that to his advantage and well

Well

Have we won 2 games in a row yet? Once maybe?

We gotta go on a 10 game heater just to be on the cusp of a playoff spot.

The Sabres were 18-14-2 at this time last year with an 8 game losing streak in November and went 8-5-2 in January

These seasons aren't comparable on any level

They held a playoff position at the end of February into March and were much much higher than 4% after December

The number of picks involved really make CHL deals look ridiculous.

How so?

Players have limited time. 4 years max. Bad teams get the good players.

IF you want to win now(Get top players) you have to give up a lot of your futures. And thats what Moose Jaw and wherever Geekie went are doing.

Its a decent system so you dont have the same 4-5 teams running the league.

Tim Connolly was a top 5 pick and was in the NHL while he was a teenager.

Ostlund is a 20 year old dangling teenagers in a non contact tournament, poor comp.

One time. 2 is the highest winning steak of the year on a team that allegedly had playoff expectations.

Any respectable organization holds someone accountable for this type of underachievement but here we are

- Asked about the advantage of playing this game at home, McDaniel cited ā€œall the natural things that come with being to hearā€ pre-snap. ā€œThose things are beneficial to a degree.ā€

weā€™ll see, the sold out stadium is probably going to be half Buffalo fans.

Heard tix are starting over $400 on secondary market.
(The SoFlo Bosses are cashing in on Bills fans, it would seem)

I think I remember someone here, angry during the Billsā€™ losing slide, saying they had sold their tix for this game. Sacrebleu!!

Article on if any team this season can recreate the Blues cup run:

Buffalo Sabres
Doesnā€™t apply: New star, recent success

Young goalie: Devon Levi might be near the top of any list of the most highly regarded young goalies in the league. Heā€™s been a disappointment so far this season, and thereā€™s really no way to sugarcoat that. But if you were going to pick any team on this list to suddenly have a young goalie go Binnington on us, the Sabres would be the easy call.

New coach: Um, Iā€™m just going to put ā€œto be determinedā€ in this spot and weā€™ll come back and check in a few weeks.

ā€œWeā€™re not that badā€ stat: Their expected goals at even strength has been hovering around 50 percent for most of the season, which is better than any other team on this list and even slightly ahead of contenders like the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. Theyā€™ve also got 13 wins in regulation, which ranks around the middle of the pack, even with or ahead of teams like the Washington Capitals, New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bottom line: I wrote this piece because I wanted to offer some optimism for fan bases that might need it, but maybe that would be cruel for long-suffering Sabres die-hards whoā€™ve been strung along on ā€œalmost thereā€ hope for over a decade. Letā€™s just say theyā€™re young at every position, thereā€™s plenty of talent, and if they can get the power play going and Levi flips a switch, stranger things have happened.

No argument. It's why, when people didn't want Kane here, I always questioned...who are you dying to keep in this lineup?

We swung and missed. Oh well. But it does stink when we consistently refuse to ice our best lineup on top of missing on guys over the summer/this fall.

- QuinnFan

I seriously question how hard they swung when they missed.

I'm guessing they barely tried if at all to move the needle, then quickly and easily accepted the low level moves they made as oh well, we're the Sabres, nobody wants us, and we have to trust youth.
