Touche, the next 6 games against wild card competition, who is going to be the 1st one to crack in Buffalo?

Blue Jackets
Senators
Canadians
Penguins
Kraken
Senators

I think we see 3 season ending injuries (injuries that allows players to quit), a blow out, and 3 losses where the Sabres have the lead but give it up late in the 3rd.

Adams has slow played himself into the worst GM under Terrys reign. He has allowed compounding implosions to destroy any resemblance of a hockey team.

Under Adams we have experienced 2 of the worst NHL products on ice in the history of the game, and both were unintentional. The tank teams had more fight in their game than rosters assembled under Adams.

The more that comes out about the skeleton front office compiled of first timers who would never even get an interview for another NHL organization erodes any attempt to begin to even find a solution.

We have seen front office plans fail, we have seen coaches fail, we have seen players quit, national broadcasts still call Buffalo out as the embarrassment of hockey, and 0 push back from anyone in the front office...the only response by the GM was when his own player called out the soft organization.

I hope someone is writing a book on the billionaire who is annually making history as the worst sports owner in the history of the game.

Always a bride's maid, never a bride. I'm gonna watch tomorrow, but gd if this isn't becoming a chore. We need a trade. A firing.

Some kick in the shorts before this gets real ugly...errr, uglier. That's it, before it gets uglier than it already is.

The one positive of the day: there's a lot of talent here. A new GM/GM wouldn't be coming into a scorched earth situation this time.

Not the Talent keeping good people from coming here, it starts with a P and ends with a A.

2017:

The Sabres have some good young talent in place, namely forwards Jack Eichel, Ryan O'Reilly, Evander Kane and Sam Reinhart, as well as defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen.

Botterill was key in putting talent around Penguins superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to win the Stanley Cup last year, and he will look to do the same with Eichel as the centerpiece in Buffalo.

Buffalo’s cupboard isn’t entirely bare. Murray brought in several key assets, including centre Jack Eichel, who was selected with the No. 2 pick — one behind Edmonton’s Connor McDavid — in the 2015 draft.

Buffalo’s young core also includes two-way centre Ryan O’Reilly and defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen.

Botterill particularly mentioned Eichel and O’Reilly as reasons he’s excited about the Sabres’ potential.

"You look around the National Hockey League, people are craving for centermen like O’Reilly and Eichel," he said. "And the fact that we have them here, it’s a good feeling."

2020:

Adams faces a considerable challenge in shaping a roster that lacks secondary scoring and could face a salary-cap crunch with numerous players eligible to become restricted and unrestricted free agents this off-season. He also stands to prepare for a draft with a new scouting staff.

"I believe that winning is doing it together," Adams said of his collaborative approach. "We’re going to be positive. And I’m really looking forward to what lies ahead."

Botterill was under fire for mismanaging the lineup with numerous questionable moves, while attempting to rebuild the roster through youth.

December 29th 2023:

The Sabres have a lot of youth and potential for the GM to build around but are missing the proper leadership, role players, coaching and yet to find their identity.

Funny he did a lot of rehab work in Buffalo, got to watch this Sh!t show on Ice up close. And watch Adams do nothing as his Team sank deeper and deeper. Why wouldn't he want to sign somewhere else! 🤔

The best thing Kane could have done for the good of the Sabres is to have been honest with !erry Pegula and Kevyn Adams on why he declined to sign with Buffalo.

It should be something like

Good, young talent at key positions...../ Roster building strategy by FO is too long
Good development Staff in AHL.........../ Coaching Staff is clueless from top to bottom
Very good drafting last several years.../ Inabilty of FO to CLOSE much needed Trade Deals

How about that wide-open style the Coach is suggesting his players can only play!
It worked out great against a real team, ya know, like the majority of teams they would face in the Playoffs.

Wonder if Terry asks the question about if this Coaching Staff is the proper one for the long term given their complete and utter failure so far this season?

If Kevyn is supportive of retaining them, he should be fired immediately gor incompetent decision making.
If Kevyn says no, he should be fired immediately for wasting $4m dollars on a HC who has proven he is not NHL caliber.

I have been a fan since the 1971-1972 season. I fell in love with that team and Punch's ability to activily GM to become a fast, exciting team. Unfortunately they couldn't close the deal.
Loved seeing Muckler build a completely different team that was equally as fun to watch although they were polar opposites in style.
The best was Regier and Ruff years coming out of the lockout...so much fun to watch. It was amazing to me that Lindy could coach such a highly skilled and high scoring team ... their offense was unbelievable...just kept coming in waves with multiple levels of options...who didn't love the rush up ice, then finding the trailer all alone in the, high slot area..pure gold.

This team now has the skill set at many positions, but are just miscoached...flat, uninspired play game after game...same mistakes time and time again with no learning.

Fire Granto and all his staff is the only answer...well, outside of fire KA too.

The heat isn't turned up enough yet to fire Granato, not sure they will even if it is. Both Adams and Granato are now i over there head, Adams saying he won't make " knee jerk decions" means he is now lost.

And Arizona isn't one of the three.

Let that sink in.

- kingcong39

O it’s sunk in. I’ll be a Sabres fan with no connection to Buffalo at all until I die, but man is it hard. I still try to get to one of the western conference teams games against Buffalo, but each year of futility even gets that harder to want to do

I see the offseason now:

Okposo resigns, 1 year @ $2.5mm
Girgs resigns, 2 years @ $2.5mm
E Johnson, resigned 1 year @ $4mm

QO sent to UPL and Mitts, Joker and Krebs

Promote Rosen, Kulich

Hype the 24' top 5 pick as a major factor in the continued success of the bright future for the organization.

Adopt a new dog for social media.

The narrative will become this group has endured the storm, now matured and ready to prove themselves. Granato will use trust as his fall back word.

Agreed that it is highly unlikely...one can hope for moment of clarity to hit both Terry and Kevyn between the eyes. It is so damn obvious to e eryone but them. At this point, I suppose letting Granto have the rest of the season to prove it correct isn't unreasonable in their eyes...but holy crap the evidence is a mountain against him.

I thought Erik Johnson was in the lineup for the sole purpose of his penalty kill wizardry.

Bad coaching is at fault for everything but the penalty kill?

That’s ej’s fault

He's really developing and progressing nicely.

If he and one other of their defense prospects can turn out well, it would make a massive difference.

Of course, none of that matters without competent leadership from management and coaches.

Until they get the above, nothing will matter.

- kingcong39

Been to a couple of his USHL games last year. Very noticeable player and asked to do quite a bit as a first time on NA ice. Can lay the wood if needed, but idk if that was because of the level/size of competition and won’t be something he continues as he gets to the higher leagues.

Folks, this leaves the Sabres with only 6 defensemen on the roster. They aren’t going to move forward with only 6 defensemen. I think Kevyn Adams is out looking for a goalie or Olofsson trade.

Don't know who sabreunfiltered is but why would anyone want Comrie and who the heck is taking Olofsson at 5m

Neither of them will get you a better defender than Johnson, Bryson or Stillman
