Does anyone want to sign Mitts still? If so, do you want Adams to be the GM who negotiates the term?

I like mitts, but he’s going to cost 8mil +. We are basically saying we are running with the same team next year if we sign him because we still have JJ, Quinn, Benson to sign. We could move Mitts and free up some cap.

Players we are stuck with if we sign Mitts

Tage, Tuch, Skinner, Cozens, Mitts, Dahlin, Power
That’s about 50mil

No issue is solved on this team, they are part of the team, they play bad too. There isn't a player on the team that is above criticism. No one has done their job this season.
- washedup20

They aren't above criticism, they just aren't deserving of it. When we have at least 2 defenseman that can clear a rebound, we can talk about what they're bringing to the team. Until then, it is undeniably, the team letting them down.

Again, you could put Hasek in our net and we'd still be losing.

A $2,600,000 qualifying offer is required to retain the RFA rights of Casey Mittelstadt. A two-way qualifying offer is permitted since Mittelstadt has not met both the games played and waivers requirements. The qualifying offer is equal to 100% of the previous contracts final season base salary because the salary was $1,000,000 or greater.

If we can't talk about what they bring to the team until the team improves, how can you claim they are the answer?

Because some issues can't be solved by one player. Goalie can help, and they are, but no one is saving this sinking ship. Until we start playing NHL caliber defense, we should expect our goalies to suffer. There's a direct correlation between the two that is always dismissed.

Here's a question: Which goals yesterday should've been stopped?

1st goal: Shot from the slot, rebound comes out and there's two uncovered Bruins on either side, one gets it and scores
2nd goal: Coyle standing alone in front for a one timer
3rd goal: Coyle gets a point blank chance, blasts it off of EJ and in, EJ is on the wrong side of both Bruins players in front
4th goal: Levi challenges McAvoy who gets a nice shot through, it deflects, hits the end boards and comes out, only Bruins players get to that board rebound and it's put in an open net

I'd argue that none of these were the goalies fault and 4/4 were the direct cause of Bruins players being wide open at our net mouth. If any of that is incorrect, please let me know. But that's why I am so disgusted by the scapegoating of the tenders.

He gave up a grade A rebound, he does that often. Defense was horrible, the Sabres were outshooting them and that goal broke the soft team in front of Levi. Yes defense should not allow the players to get in alone in front of the net, he can still control the rebound.

There is plenty that Levi/UPL can be held accountable for this season. I am not putting the full blame on them, they are not good and the team in front is worse than last year. It's a total failure, the correlation is the GM purposely designed the team like this.

Still bad coaching to blame. Robinson has proven to be effective on the 4th line yet he plays Olofsson, maybe our worst defensive forward on the 4th. Why? Joker has been one of our better defensive defensemen but he gets scratched for our worst defensive defensemen.
Truly puzzling

That's a point blank shot from the slot, that goes blocker side. He pushes it to the side, doesn't leave it out front, so I honestly don't get that thought at all.

They don't deserve 1% of the blame for this. The forwards don't try and the defense are awful. OOC, which goalie do you think pulls us out of the dumpster we're in? Helly wasn't doing it even with his WPG save percentage. So who was this goalie savior that we were going to get? Not trying to be confrontational at all, just wondering who we really think would be doing well in this circumstance.

The goalies are not absolved of blame. End of story.
They suck just as much as everyone else.

The roster, It’s not built well. Terrible top to bottom. Major moves need to be made. It doesn’t work and it’s not going to work. I hope Adams can at least see that.
We can have 2 lines that don’t work defensively, but we need 2 solid lines that are miserable to ply against to counter it.
This will take pretty serious roster reconstruction

"I believe we are in a very challenging time right now," said Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams during an appearance on "Schopp and the Bulldog" on Thursday, as his team readied to play the Toronto Maple Leafs at KeyBank Center. "I do believe we have to stick together. We have to find solutions and continue to work and come out the other side. I do believe when we come out the other side, we will be stronger for it."

Better defense would help, but not solve the problem of having 3 goalies that are not good or consistent. Too many shatty goals against at key times. We are always playing from behind

Another underachieving performance another day that meatstick and friends are still employed. If they lose another uninspired effort against Columbus will they finally pull the trigger?

The only chance I dont see a top 15 mock draft at the end of the month is with a new coaching staff who lights a fire under the locker roon

I dont want to believe the standard is so low for this organization, but here we are

I still have a hard time believing that Terry will let anyone go before their extension kicks in. I just dream of him selling the team so we can move on from the nightmare that has been his ownership.

I saw Tyson Jost play on the first line last night.

The season is over.

Fire them all.

When mistakes reoccur it is not on the 23 year old players. This is 200% a coaching problem.

In a year we were expected to compete for a playoff spot, we are 26th in the league after Xmas with the majority of the teams below us having games in hand.
We have one of the worst PP’s in the league, one of the worst PK’s now as well. We are the worst FO team in the league, most players from last year are on pace to have 1/2 the points they had last year. Our goalies are some of the worst in the league.

The team isn't that bad.

They are coached atrociously.
